8. Be sure that the power LEDs on the power supply are green, indicating that the
power supplies are working. For information about the power supply LED, refer
to “Hot-Plug Power Supply LEDs” in Appendix E, “System LEDs and
Switches.”
Battery-Backed Write Cache Enabler
The BBWCE, also called the battery module, enables write cache, provides
transportable data protection, increases overall controller performance, and maintains
any cache data for up to 72 hours.
The NiMH batteries in the battery module are continuously recharged through a
trickle charging process whenever the system power is on. Under normal operating
conditions, the battery module lasts for 3 years before replacement is necessary.
Locating the Battery-Backed Write Cache Enabler
Use Figure 5-42 and Table 5-9 to identify the parts of the BBWCE.
