Removing the system board
1. Disconnect power from the system (Pre-disassembly procedures on page 55), and remove the
access panel (
Access panel on page 63). Place the workstation on its side with the system board
facing up. Remove all expansion boards, external cables, graphics cards (
Removing PCI or PCI
Express cards on page 82), and the CPU heatsink (Processor heatsink on page 113). Remove the
system and memory fan assemblies.
2. Disconnect all cables from the system board.
NOTE: Make note of the cable connections before disconnecting them from the system board.

3. Rotate the system board latch lever 90 degrees (1) clockwise to unlock the system board.
4. Slide the system board forward (2) to disengage the metal mounting standoffs from the chassis.
CAUTION: Do not attempt to remove the system board mounting screws. These screws are
permanently secured and are not removable.
5. Lift the system board out (3) of the chassis, being careful not to damage the cables and rear panel
connectors. You can lift the board by the rear audio connector and the 2 x 4 power connector (4).

Replacing the System Board
1. Insert the system board straight down, and be sure that all system board standoffs engage with
the keyholes in the chassis.
NOTE: Be sure the system board connectors engage correctly with the rear I/O panel.
2. Push back on the board while maintaining downward pressure on the board, so all standoffs remain
engaged.
3. Rotate the system board latch 90 degrees counter clockwise.
