To prevent damage to electrical components, take the appropriate antistatic precautions before beginning any system
installation. Improper grounding can cause electrostatic discharge.
ProcedureProcedure
1. Back up all server data.
2. Power down the server (Power down the server).
3. Do one of the following:
Extend the server from the rack (Extend the server from the rack ).
Remove the server from the rack ( Remove the server from the rack ).
4. Remove the access panel (Remove the access panel).
5. Remove all drives and drive blanks.
Note where each drive is located.
6. If installed, remove the Smart Storage Battery ( Removing and replacing the Smart Storage Battery or Hybrid Capacitor ).
7. Disconnect all cables from the drive backplane.
8. Remove the drive backplane.
To replace the component, reverse the removal procedure.
