a. Disconnect each power cord from the power source.
b. Disconnect each power cord from the server.
3. Do one of the following:
Extend the server from the rack (Extend the server from the rack on page 53).
Remove the server from the rack (Removing the server from the rack on page 54).
4. Remove the access panel (Removing the access panel on page 55).
CAUTION: Do not operate the server for long periods with the access panel open or removed.
Operating the server in this manner results in improper airflow and improper cooling that can lead
to thermal damage.
5. If installed, do the following:
a. Remove the air baffle (Removing the air baffle on page 57).
b. Remove the processor mezzanine tray (Removing the processor mezzanine tray on page 63).
c. Remove the CPU Mezzanine UPI performance kit (Removing the CPU Mezzanine UPI
performance kit on page 63).
6. Remove the fan cage (Removing the fan cage on page 61).
7. Remove the screws, and then remove the drive bay blank.
8. Route the cables through the opening, and then install the universal media bay.
