• Off: no fault has been detected
• Flashing: the drive mechanism has detected a hardware error
3. Tape — amber
• Off: no fault has been detected
• Flashing: The cartridge currently in the drive is faulty (damaged or unsupported) or an attempt was
made to write to a write-protected tape. To determine if the tape is a supported generation, write-
protected, or has physical damage, inspect the cartridge. If physical damage is noted, discard the
cartridge.
4. Clean — amber
• On: cleaning cartridge in use
• Off: the drive does not require cleaning
• Flashing: the drive needs cleaning
5. Encryption — blue
• On: at power-on
• Off: some or all the data on the tape is not encrypted
• On: all data on the tape is encrypted
• On with Ready LED flashing: drive is reading/writing encrypted data and all data on the cartridge is
encrypted
• Flashing: encryption or decryption error
