The HPM Wireless Door Chime is an example of superior design and craftsmanship. The following
suggestions will help you care for the Door Chime so you can enjoy it for years:
1. Keep the Door Chime dry. If the Door Chime gets wet, wipe it dry immediately. Liquids might contain
minerals that can corrode the electronic circuits.
2. Use and store the Door Chime only in normal temperature environments. Temperature extremes
can shorten the life of electronic devices, damage batteries, and distort or melt plastic parts.
3. Handle the Door Chime gently and carefully. Dropping it can damage the circuit boards and can
cause the door chime to work improperly.
4. Keep the Door Chime away from dust and dirt, which can cause premature wear of parts.
5. Wipe the Door Chime with a damp cloth occasionally to keep it looking new. Do not use harsh
chemicals, cleaning solvents, or strong detergents to clean the chime.
6. Use only fresh batteries of the recommended size and type. Always remove old or weak batteries.
They can leak chemicals that can destroy electronic circuits.
7. Modifying or tampering with the Door Chime’s internal components can cause a malfunction and
might invalidate its warranty.
8. Care should be taken when replacing Receiver batteries. Open casing carefully so as not to damage
the internal wiring.

Overview

This document describes the HPM Long Range Wireless Door Chime, models D641/BLR and D641/BLRCC, which are battery-operated devices designed for visitor alerts or as a panic button.

Function Description

The HPM Wireless Door Chime system consists of a Bell Press Transmitter and a Door Chime Receiver. When the button on the Bell Press Transmitter is pressed, the Door Chime Receiver sounds, alerting the user. The system operates wirelessly, offering flexibility in placement.

Important Technical Specifications

  • Operating Range: Up to 70 meters (range is dependent on location, temperature, and battery condition).
  • Transmission Frequency: 433.92MHz.
  • Bell Press Supply Voltage: 12V d.c.
  • Receiver Battery Voltage: 4.5V d.c.
  • Sound Level: 100dB.
  • Door Chime Receiver Battery Requirement: 3 x 'C' batteries (not supplied). Alkaline batteries are recommended for longer operating life (up to 180 days).
  • Bell Press Transmitter Battery Requirement: 1 x 12V battery (supplied, type 3LR50), with an expected lifespan of approximately 850 days (over 2 years).
  • Melodies: 2 selectable melodies.
  • Weather Resistance: The Bell Press is weather resistant.

Usage Features

Installation:

  1. Door Chime Receiver:
    • Remove the back cover plate by depressing the tab.
    • Insert 3 x 'C' size alkaline batteries, ensuring coil springs contact the negative (-) end.
    • The receiver is fully portable and free-standing, suitable for placement on tables, shelves, or windowsills.
    • It can also be temporarily or permanently fixed to a wall using the slotted hang hole on the back.
    • Important: Test the location of both units before permanent fixing to ensure satisfactory operation.
  2. Bell Press Unit:
    • Remove the front plate cover by lifting the bottom edge and sliding out.
    • Insert the included 12V battery, ensuring the positive (+) end aligns with the (+) in the battery compartment.
    • Replace the front plate cover.
    • Press the push button to confirm the red LED indicator lamp lights, indicating correct battery installation.
    • Fix the unit directly to a front door or a nearby position using supplied self-adhesive foam mounting pads.
    • Avoid mounting the Bell Press Transmitter on metal or near a metal door frame, security door, or in close proximity to any metal outdoor furniture, as this will substantially reduce the range.
    • The chosen mounting position should not be exposed to direct sunlight or rain.
    • The device can also be used as a remote control without installation.

Operation:

  • Press the button on the Bell Press Transmitter to sound the Door Chime. Press again to repeat the chime.

Changing Operating Channels:

  • If the Door Chime Receiver activates intermittently or without activation, it may be due to interference from another unit operating on the same frequency coding.
  • To change the channel, turn both devices so their backs are facing you.
  • Using long nose pliers, place a jumper (a small black device included in the pack) on the same row of pins on both devices. The first 6 pins are for radio wave channels.
  • Crucially: The jumper positions must be identical for both units. Test for correct operation.

Tone Selection:

  • The tone selector is located in the Bell Press Transmitter. The two last pins control the 2 possible chime tones.
  • To change the tone, remove the jumper and fit it on the last row of pins.

Troubleshooting:

  • Door Chime intermittent or sounding when not activated: This suggests a similar door chime with the same frequency is nearby. The suggested solution is to change the channel of your Door Chime and Bell Press (refer to "Changing Operating Channels").
  • Door Chime stopped sounding:
    • Possible Cause: Door Chime Receiver batteries are flat (3 x 'C' batteries).
    • Suggested Solution: Replace the batteries in your Door Chime Receiver.
    • Possible Cause: Red indicator light on Bell Press Transmitter no longer illuminates when pressed, indicating a flat transmitter battery.
    • Suggested Solution: Replace your Bell Press Transmitter battery (3LR50-12V).
  • Door Chime still not operating after checking batteries:
    • Possible Cause: Distance between Door Chime and Bell Press is too far.
    • Suggested Solution: Relocate the Door Chime Receiver closer to the Bell Press.
    • Possible Cause: Bell Press is too close to a metal structure or the ground.
    • Suggested Solution: Relocate your Bell Press away from metal structures or further away from the ground.

Important Notes:

  • Range depends on location, temperature, and battery condition.
  • Try different locations in your home, ideally 1 meter from the floor. Move the Door Chime Receiver closer to the Bell Press Transmitter to improve operation.
  • Do not expose either unit to rain or immerse in water.
  • Avoid locations where the Bell Press Transmitter is exposed to direct summer sunlight.
  • Do not leave exhausted batteries in either the Door Chime Receiver or Bell Press Transmitter.
  • This series of door chimes is not compatible with units from HPM's D642 and D641/PI series or with D641/BFL.

Maintenance Features
