A Router is also included to establish and manage the wireless connection between the PC Transmitter and the HMD Receiver, optimizing signal integrity and performance.

Usage Features

Installation Process:

The installation begins with downloading and installing the connection assistant software from the TPCAST official website. This software is compatible with Windows 7, 8, and 10, and guides users through the setup process. If previous versions of the client are installed, they should be uninstalled, and the PC restarted before proceeding.

Connecting the HMD Receiver involves several steps:

Unplugging existing cables: Users first open the compartment cover on the VIVE HMD and disconnect the three connectors of the 3-in-1 cable and the audio connector. These cables are then pulled out of the compartment and strap, separating them from the HMD.
Attaching the HMD Receiver: The long connection cable's interfaces (1-a, 1-b, and 1-c) and the audio cable are threaded through the TPCAST HMD receiver strap hole. A curved USB plug (1-A) may require some pressure to pass through. The separated strap is then threaded through the HMD receiver strap hole under the long connection cable.
Cable connection: The 1-C USB plug of the long connection cable and the 2-B HDMI plug of the short connection cable are plugged into the USB and HDMI ports of the receiver, respectively. The strap is reconnected to the compartment cover. The 1-a and 1-b interfaces of the long connection cable are threaded through the compartment cover cable port, along with the 2-a interface of the short connection cable. Finally, the four interfaces are plugged into the VIVE HMD power port, USB port, HDMI port, and audio connector port.
Overall adjustment: Cables are straightened, and the compartment cover is put back. It's recommended to adjust the strap length so that the cable isn't tight when the HMD receiver reaches the end of the strap. The 1-D and 1-E plugs of the long-distance connection cable and the audio cable are slid through the sleeves at the back of the HMD. The receiver is then slid to the end of the strap, and cables are sorted.

Connecting the Power Box:

The 1-D and 1-E plugs of the long-distance connection cable are connected to the USB and power supply ports of the power box.
The battery is plugged into the power box. Blue battery lights indicate the remaining power level. To conserve battery life, it's advised to disconnect the battery when not in use.
The power box and battery are placed in the portable pack to prevent them from falling during movement.

Connecting the PC Transmitter:

The power supply is disconnected from the VIVE streaming box.
The 3-in-1 cable is detached from the HMD. The DCIN power plug and HDMI plug are connected to their corresponding ports on the PC transmitter. The USB plug remains disconnected.
The power supply is reconnected to the VIVE streaming box.

Router Installation:

The router power adapter is connected, and the power indicator on the front panel is checked.
If the PC is connected via Ethernet, the cable is disconnected from the PC's Ethernet port and connected to the router's WAN port. The router's LAN port is then connected to the PC using the supplied network cable.
In Windows network settings, "Local connection" is selected to connect the router, and TCP/IP settings are configured to automatically obtain an IP address and DNS server address. Users are advised not to modify the router's settings or restore factory defaults. For optimal performance, the router should be placed in an open location without obstacles, with a 90-degree antenna, avoiding placement under desks, behind computer cases, or in enclosed environments.

Operation:

After installation, users verify all connections are tight and the battery is fully charged. The PC transmitter's position is critical for performance; it should be placed close to the VIVE laser locator (lighthouse) and pointed towards the playing area. If connectivity issues or poor video performance occur, placing the PC transmitter above the play area is recommended.

The connection assistant software is launched, and the "Start" icon is clicked. The assistant automatically tests the wireless adaptor's environment. Once a positive wireless connection is reported, Steam VR software can be launched. During proper operation, the indicators on both the transmitter and receiver will change from blinking quickly to a steady LED light, indicating proper HMD functionality.

Safety Precautions:

The wireless nature of the adaptor means users should pay close attention to safety in the play area, avoiding running into objects. Playing under supervision is an alternative. Cables should not be pulled when grabbing devices; instead, connectors should be pulled gently when unplugging. The adaptor generates heat during operation, and if the temperature reaches 120°F, activity should cease to prevent hazards.

Battery Safety and Recharging:

The supplied battery is proprietary to TPCAST and should not be replaced with non-TPCAST batteries, as this voids the warranty and poses risks. To prevent fire or combustion hazards, the portable power bank should not be disassembled, squeezed, exposed to temperatures exceeding 60°C, or disposed of in fire or water.

The battery can be recharged using a standard cellular phone charger. A 2A charger is recommended for optimal charging time, typically taking 9-12 hours for a full charge. Chargers with a capacity greater than 2.4A should not be used for recharging.

General Service and Maintenance:

The adaptor is not waterproof and must be protected from moisture. If it gets wet, a blow dryer should be used to dry it to prevent damage. Users should avoid dropping or disassembling the adapter to prevent electrical shock or fire. The product should be operated and maintained within a temperature range of 14 to 104 degrees Fahrenheit. It should only be used as directed and not connected to incompatible products. Disposal of electronic waste should follow local regulations. Small objects should not be inserted into the product's vent openings. Cleaning should be done without irritating chemicals, detergents, liquid soaps, or aerosols.
