Overview

The Hubble AM-5 is a lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) battery system designed for residential energy storage, solar energy storage, and UPS applications. It features an advanced battery management system (BMS) and is built with a focus on safety, ease of installation, and longevity.

Function Description:

The AM-5 battery system serves as a power wall, storing energy for various applications. It can be integrated into solar energy systems to store excess solar power, or used in UPS systems to provide backup power during outages. The system is designed for modular expansion, allowing users to increase capacity by connecting multiple batteries in parallel. Each module is equipped with an independent BMS, which manages and monitors the battery's performance, ensuring safe and efficient operation. The BMS includes functions such as overcharge protection, undervoltage protection, overcurrent protection, short-circuit protection, and reverse connection protection. It also features a sleep function to reduce power consumption and a wake-up function for activation. The battery system supports communication with inverters and other third-party equipment via CAN, RS485, and RS232 ports, allowing for integrated monitoring and management. An optional Hubble Cloudlink device can be added for remote monitoring of battery and inverter data via a cloud server.

Usage Features:

  • Smart BMS: Each battery module has an independent BMS system that monitors and manages its operation, ensuring safety and optimal performance.
  • Easy Installation: The system is designed for plug-and-play installation, simplifying the setup process. It includes a wall-mount bracket for secure positioning.
  • Safe Lithium Iron Phosphate Cells: Utilizes safe lithium iron phosphate battery cells, known for their stability and long lifespan.
  • Modular Expansion: Supports modular expansion, allowing multiple batteries of the same model to be connected in parallel to increase overall capacity.
  • Longer Lifetime: Designed for a long operational life with 6000 cycles and a 15-year design life.
  • Communication Ports: Equipped with RS232, CAN, and RS485 communication ports for interfacing with inverters and other third-party equipment. The RS232 port is primarily for Hubble-specific peripherals or technicians, while the CAN port is dedicated to inverters and other CAN bus devices for battery information. The RS485 port can be used with third-party inverters that do not have a CAN port and are supported by Hubble. Battery link ports are used for connecting multiple batteries of the same model.
  • Parallel (Cascade) Function: When batteries are cascaded, one battery acts as the master pack (address 0001), managing data from all slave battery packs via the RS485 communication interface. Only the master pack communicates with the host computer, uploading data, status, and information for the entire cascaded system.
  • LED Indicators: Features LED indicators for power, alarm, and State of Charge (SOC), providing visual feedback on the battery's working status and capacity.
  • Button Operation: A power button allows activation from sleep mode (press for >1S) and entry into sleep mode (press for >3S and <6S). Pressing for >6S will reset the protection board.
  • Dry Contact: Provides one channel of dry contact signal for BMS alarm output, indicating conditions such as SOC alarm, undervoltage, overvoltage, or other BMS protection states.
  • Current Limiting Function: The BMS has an advanced current limiting function that activates if the charging current reaches the maximum battery design charge limit (e.g., 100A), reducing the charge to 20Amps per battery to prevent disconnection from the circuit.

Maintenance Features:

  • Storage Guidelines: Batteries should be stored in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated area within the specified temperature range (10°C ~ 50°C). For long-term storage exceeding six months, an additional charge is recommended.
  • Disposal: Disposal must be done in accordance with local regulations, as these vary by country.
  • Warning System: The BMS includes a buzzer that beeps every 2 seconds during short-circuit protection. If a short circuit is detected three times consecutively, the protection locks, and the buzzer stops. Disconnecting the battery and waiting a few minutes can re-enable the BMS.
  • Warranty Voidance: Interfacing or plugging in any third-party or non-approved Hubble products or peripherals into the RS232 (serial) or RS485 (Battery Link) ports can damage the BMS, internal cells, and immediately void the warranty.
  • Regular Monitoring: The optional Hubble Cloudlink device allows users to remotely monitor their power system, including battery and inverter data, via a cloud server, aiding in proactive maintenance and issue detection.
  • Technical Support: In case of setup difficulties, users can contact Hubble Lithium's Technical Support Department via email, providing details such as inverter make/model, number of connected batteries, series/parallel configuration, system description, issues, and images.
