CAUTION
The device to be tested must have all power turned off, and have all high voltage
capacitors discharged before connecting the Tracker 2700 to the device.
Input Protection
The Tracker 2700 has input protection circuitry which protects the Tracker 2700’s test terminals
from external excessive voltage. The Tracker 2700 is a power-off tester requiring no other
external power being applied to the device-under-test. For example, large value capacitors may
still have a charge in them and can cause potential damage to the Tracker 2700.
Do the following to display the tracker signature of a capacitor:
1. Press the 5V/10V button so that the button’s LED is blinking indicating that the 10V range is
active.
2. Press the 100Ω Button.
3. Place or clip a test lead on the opposite ends of a capacitor and observe the signature on the
Tracker 2700’s LCD display.
