This document is a Quick Reference Guide for the Hyundai Elantra Coupe, providing an overview of its features, controls, and maintenance schedule. It is designed to help users quickly understand and utilize their vehicle's functionalities.

General Vehicle Description and Features:

The Hyundai Elantra Coupe is a two-door vehicle equipped with various modern features for comfort, convenience, and safety. The guide covers essential aspects from basic operations to advanced multimedia and maintenance.

Getting Started:

  • Engine Start/Stop Button: The vehicle uses a push-button start system.
    • Function:
      • With ignition OFF, pressing once activates ACC (Accessory) mode.
      • Pressing twice activates ON mode.
      • Pressing three times turns OFF.
      • To start the engine with auto transmission, depress the brake pedal and press the button.
      • To start with manual transmission, depress the clutch and brake pedals and press the button.
      • To shut off the engine with auto transmission, shift to P (Park) and press the button.
      • To shut off with manual transmission, select 1st gear or Neutral, apply the parking brake, and press the button.
    • Emergency Situations:
      • To shut off while driving: Press the button for more than 2 seconds or press it 3 times consecutively within 3 seconds.
      • To restart while driving: Press the button with the shift lever in N (Neutral).
  • Remote Keyless Entry:
    • Function: The smart key allows for locking, unlocking, trunk release, and panic alarm activation.
    • Usage:
      • Pressing once unlocks the driver's door.
      • Pressing twice unlocks all doors.
      • Pressing a third time locks all doors.
    • Mechanical Key: A mechanical key can be removed by pressing and holding a release button and reinserted until a click is heard.
  • Front Seat Adjustment:
    • Function: Allows for forward/backward adjustment, seat cushion height adjustment (driver's seat), and seatback angle adjustment. A rear seat entry lever is also available.
  • Headrest Adjustment:
    • Function: Headrests can be adjusted for height.
    • Usage: Pull up to raise, press the lock knob while pushing down to lower.
  • Steering Wheel Adjustment:
    • Function: Allows for tilt and telescopic adjustment.
    • Usage: Pull the lever downward, adjust angle and distance, then push the lever upward to lock it in place.
    • Warning: Never adjust while driving to avoid loss of steering control.
  • Fuel Filler Lid:
    • Usage: After adding fuel, reinstall the cap by rotating it clockwise until it clicks once. Failure to do so may illuminate the Check Engine Light.

Features and Controls:

  • Driver's Main Controls:
    • Outside Rearview Mirrors: Adjusted by moving the center switch to L (left) or R (right) and then using directional arrows.
    • Window Auto Down/Up (Driver's Side Only): Press past the detent to fully open/close the window.
  • Central Door Lock Switch: Unlocks and locks all doors.
  • Head Lights and Fog Lights:
    • Modes: Auto light, Head light, Parking light, DRL (Daytime Running Lights) OFF.
    • Turn Signals: Includes turn signals and lane change signals, flashing head lights, high beam, and fog light.
    • Escort Function: Headlights may stay on for 30 seconds after exiting and locking the vehicle. Press the remote lock button twice to turn them off.
  • Wiper and Washer:
    • Modes: MIST (single wipe), OFF, INT (intermittent wipe), LO (normal wiper speed), HI (fast wiper speed).
    • Usage: Pull to wipe and wash. Intermittent wipe time can be adjusted for fast or slow speed.
  • Sunroof:
    • Sliding: Press the switch backward to open (past detent for full open), press forward to close (past detent for full close).
    • Tilting: Push or pull the switch up or down.
    • Note: Do not leave the sun shade closed when the sunroof is open.
  • Interior Lights:
    • Map Lamp: Push the lens to turn on/off.
    • Switch: ON (map and room lamp on), DOOR (map and room lamp on when any door is open except trunk), OFF (lights stay off).
    • Rear Room Lamp: Switch to ON to turn on/off.
  • Instrument Panel:
    • Indicators: Turn signal indicators, engine temperature gauge, tachometer, odometer/trip computer, fuel gauge, speedometer, and various warning/indicator lights (airbag, parking brake/brake fluid, seat belt, high beam, electric power steering, immobilizer, trunk open, ESC OFF, malfunction, light on, ABS, low tire pressure/TPMS, engine oil pressure, door open, automatic transmission shift, low fuel level, charging system, front fog light, engine coolant temperature, cruise, cruise SET, ECO).
    • Illumination: Control switch to adjust brightness.
  • Trip Computer:
    • Functions: Trip A/B, Range, Average fuel consumption, Elapsed time, Average speed.
    • Usage: Press the TRIP button to select functions.
  • Climate Control (pages 12-13):
    • Modes: Face Level, Bi-Level, Floor Level, Floor & Defrost Level, Defrost Level.
    • Controls: Mode selection buttons, front windshield defroster, air conditioning, fan speed, air intake, temperature control, MAX A/C.
    • Defrosting/Defogging:
      1. Press the front windshield defrost control.
      2. Set temperature control to warmest setting.
      3. Set fan speed to highest setting.
      • Note: Keep the windshield clean to reduce fogging.
    • Air Intake Control: Outside (fresh) air position and Recirculated air position (LED on).
    • Rear Window Defroster: Press to activate/deactivate.
  • Steering Wheel Functions:
    • Cruise Control:
      • Indicators: CRUISE (illuminates when active), SET (illuminates when speed is set).
      • To Set: Press CRUISE (indicator illuminates), accelerate to desired speed (above 25 mph), press SET-.
      • To Accelerate/Decelerate: Press RES+ to increase, SET- to decrease.
      • To Cancel: Press CANCEL, depress brake pedal, or press CRUISE.
    • Audio Control:
      • Volume: Raises/lowers speaker volume.
      • Seek/Preset: Changes station.
      • Mode: Changes audio source.
      • Mute: Mutes sound.
      • XM® Radio: Complimentary subscription for three months. Contact 1-800-XM-RADIO (1-800-967-2346) to renew.
    • Bluetooth Control:
      • Volume: Raises/lowers speaker volume.
      • Mute: Mutes microphone during a call.
      • Talk: Activates voice recognition.

  • Bluetooth Operational Tips:
    • Hearing Difficulty: May occur with high volume (distortion/echo), rough roads, high speeds, open windows, or AC vents facing the microphone at max speed.
    • Steering Wheel Bluetooth Control:
      • Volume: Raises/lowers speaker volume.
      • Mute: Mutes microphone during a call.
      • Talk: Activates voice recognition.
      • Call: Places/transfers calls.
      • End: Ends calls/cancels functions.
      • Redial: Press and hold the talk button.
      • To Answer a Call: Press the call button.
      • To Reject a Call: Press the end button.
      • To Adjust Ring Volume: Use the VOLUME buttons.
      • To Transfer a Call to Phone (Secret Call): Press and hold the call button until the audio system transfers the call.
