IAG Competition Series Air / Oil Separator (AOS) For 2017 STI
Part# IAG-ENG-7251
Tools Required: Ratchet, torque wrench, extensions,
needle nose pliers, hose cutter, snips/scissors, flat head
screw driver, hose clamping pliers
Sockets: 10mm, 12mm, ¼” allen,
Wrenches: ⅞”, 8mm, 10mm, 19mm 3mm allen, 5mm allen,
pry bar,
Other: Electrical Tape
Congratulations on the purchase of your Air/Oil Separator
(AOS) and thank you for choosing IAG Performance. This
installation manual is intended to guide you through the
removal of the factory PCV system and the installation of
the IAG AOS. If you already have an aftermarket catch can
or AOS installed, please consult the specific instructions for
your hardware to aid in its removal.
Note: The 2015+ STI cars are equipped with a noise
symposerengine sound enhancing device that connects
the intake to the firewall. These instructions do not cover
the removal process of this device. Usually this device is
already bypassed by the time an AOS is required.

Summary

Removal of Factory Components

Remove Intercooler Bracket

Remove intercooler mounting bolts and the driver side intercooler bracket.

Remove Intercooler

Carefully wiggle and remove the intercooler from the engine bay.

Remove Throttle Body

Unbolt and remove the throttle body from the intake manifold using a 10mm socket.

Remove PCV Valve Assembly

Detach the PCV valve assembly and crankcase ventilation sensor from the engine.

Replace PCV Nipple with Plug

Unscrew the PCV vacuum nipple and install a ¼" NPT plug using a ¼" allen socket.

Remove Main Engine Harness

Detach the main engine harness from its mounting bracket on the passenger strut tower.

Remove Main Harness Bracket

Remove the main wiring harness bracket using a 10mm socket.

Air;Oil Separator (AOS) Installation

Install AOS Coolant Lines

Thread the pre-assembled AOS coolant lines onto the AOS and tighten.

Install AOS Mounting Bracket

Mount the AOS bracket onto the AOS using three small allen bolts.

Mount AOS to Strut Tower

Install the AOS onto the strut tower using two mounting holes and 10mm bolts.

Secure Harness Relocation Bracket

Install and adjust the harness relocation bracket, then tighten the 10mm bolt.

Attach AOS Upper Coolant Line

Trim and attach the AOS upper coolant line to the OEM coolant expansion tank port.

Route and Install AOS Lower Coolant Hose

Route the AOS lower coolant hose to the upper coolant hard pipe on the turbocharger.

Swap Turbocharger Coolant Lines

Remove OEM upper coolant line and swap with the lower IAG AOS coolant line.

Final Checks and Completion

Check Coolant Fittings and Clamps

Verify all coolant fittings and clamps on the turbo coolant pipe are tight.

Check Zip Tie Connections

Confirm all specified connections, including Y-fitting and AOS ports, are zip tied.

Post-Installation Coolant Check

Start the vehicle, check for leaks, and top off coolant after engine heat cycling.
