Bringing the ball back
If your dog likes to play keep away instead of bringing
the ball back, try these tips:
We recommend training with the iFetch Too with
your dog on a long-lead (30 feet). As your dog
returns after fetching the ball, gently guide them in
with the lead, preventing them from running away.
Use the “here” command as you guide them in with
the lead. Remember to use lots of praise when they
come to you, especially if they come to you without
the aid of the lead. A second person may also stand
by to help corral the dog back to the owner and
launcher.
It’s important to give your dog time to think,
troubleshoot, and then pick up the ball and bring it
to you. Avoid repeating the command too much, as
it can overwhelm them and cause more frustration.
Remember: a dog who loves fetch will find a way to
play fetch. Breaks help too!
