Overview

This document provides a comprehensive guide for the Indesit refrigerator, covering its functions, usage, and maintenance.

First Time Use

Upon installation, it is crucial to wait at least two hours before connecting the appliance to the power supply. Once connected, the refrigerator will begin operation automatically. The factory presets the ideal storage temperatures for food. After turning on, allow 4-6 hours for the appliance to reach the correct storage temperature, especially when it is normally filled. If available, position the antibacterial anti-odour filter in the fan as shown in its packaging. Should an audible signal sound, it indicates a temperature alarm has been triggered; press the button to silence it.

Control Panel

The control panel features three main components:

  1. LED Light: Illuminates the interior of the refrigerator.
  2. On/Stand-by Button: Press and hold this button for 3 seconds to turn the appliance off. In Stand-by mode, the refrigerator compartment light will not turn on. Briefly press the button again to reactivate the appliance. Note that this action does not disconnect the appliance from the power supply.
  3. Freezer and Refrigerator Compartment Temperature Button: This button allows you to adjust the temperature settings for both compartments.

Temperature Settings

The three LED indicators on the control panel display the refrigerator compartment's set temperature. You can adjust the temperature using the dedicated button. The following settings are possible, indicated by the lit LEDs:

  • High (less cold): One LED lit.
  • Medium-high: Two LEDs lit.
  • Medium: Three LEDs lit (recommended setting).
  • Medium-low: Four LEDs lit.
  • Low (colder): Five LEDs lit.
  • Fast cool: All LEDs lit, with an asterisk indicating this mode.

To minimize food waste, refer to the recommended settings and storage times provided in the online user manual.

How to Store Fresh Food and Beverages

The refrigerator is divided into different zones for optimal food storage:

  • Temperate Zone: Ideal for storing tropical fruit, cans, drinks, eggs, sauces, pickles, butter, and jam.
  • Cool Zone: Suitable for cheese, milk, daily food, delicatessen, and yogurt.
  • Coolest Area: Best for cold cuts, desserts, meat, and fish.

Refrigerator Compartment

The light system in the refrigerator compartment uses LED lights, which provide better illumination than traditional light bulbs and consume very little energy. Depending on the model, the appliance may contain light sources of different energy efficiency classes (G or A) and configurations (top or lateral).

Freezer Compartment

Freezing Fresh Food:

  1. It is advisable to set a colder temperature or activate the Fast Freeze/Fast Cool* function at least four hours before placing food in the freezer compartment. This helps prolong the food's preservation during the defrosting phase.
  2. The quantity of fresh food that can be frozen within a specific time period is indicated on the rating plate.
  3. Load limits are determined by baskets, flaps, drawers, and shelves. Ensure these components can close easily after loading.

Defrosting the Freezer:

  1. To defrost, unplug the appliance and remove all drawers.
  2. Leave the door open to allow the frost to melt. To prevent water from escaping, place an absorbent cloth on the bottom of the freezer compartment and wring it out regularly.
  3. Carefully clean and dry the inside of the freezer compartment.
  4. After cleaning, turn the appliance back on and return the food. For models with the STOP FROST* accessory, follow the specific cleaning instructions.

Ice Cubes (Optional Feature):* Fill the ice tray 2/3 full with water and place it in the freezer compartment. Never use sharp or pointed objects to remove ice.

General Information

Drawers, baskets, and shelves should generally remain in their current positions unless otherwise specified in this guide. For disposal, doors and lids of the refrigeration appliance should be removed to prevent children or animals from getting trapped inside.

Troubleshooting

This section addresses common issues and their solutions:

  • Control panel switched off, appliance not working:

    • Possible reasons: Power supply problem (outage, plug not inserted, inefficient electrical system protection, damaged power cable) or appliance in On/stand-by mode.
    • Solutions: Check power supply, ensure proper plug insertion, verify electrical system protection, inspect power cable. If in On/stand-by mode, briefly press the On/Stand-by button to reactivate.
  • Inside light not working or flashing:

    • Possible reasons: Light needs replacement, technical component malfunction, or door alarm active (refrigerator door open for too long).
    • Solutions: Disconnect appliance and contact Technical Assistance Service for replacement if needed. For door alarm, close the refrigerator door. Check light function upon reopening.
  • Temperature inside compartments not low enough:

    • Possible reasons: Door not closing properly, appliance near a heat source, inadequate set temperature, or obstructed air circulation.
    • Solutions: Ensure door closes properly, relocate appliance away from heat sources, adjust to an adequate set temperature, and ensure vents are not obstructed.
  • Water on the bottom of the refrigerator compartment:

    • Possible reason: Blocked defrost water drain.
    • Solution: Clean the defrosting water drain (refer to "Cleaning and Maintenance" section).
  • Excessive frost in the freezer compartment:

    • Possible reason: Freezer compartment door not closed properly.
    • Solutions: Check that nothing prevents the door from closing properly. Defrost the freezer compartment and ensure the appliance is correctly installed.
  • Front edge of the appliance is hot:

    • Possible reason: This is not a defect; it prevents condensation.
    • Solution: No solution is necessary.
  • Green symbols flashing continuously, temperature cannot be changed:

    • Possible reason: Malfunction alarm, indicating a fault in a technical component.
    • Solution: Contact Technical Assistance Service.
  • Refrigerator compartment temperature too cold:

    • Possible reasons: Set temperature is too cold, or a large amount of fresh food has been placed in the freezer compartment.
    • Solutions: Try setting a less cold temperature. If fresh food was placed in the freezer, wait until it is fully frozen. If present, turn off the fan as described in the "FAN" paragraph.
