of the door opening. The setting of the thermostat may have to be
varied to allow for these factors. To check the temperature of the food
stored, place the thermometer (if delivered) under the food; if it is
placed on the food
it will indicate the temperature of the air which does not correspond to
that of the food stored.

Overview

This document provides a comprehensive guide for the Indesit refrigerator, covering its functions, usage, and maintenance.

Function Description

The Indesit refrigerator is designed to store fresh and frozen food efficiently. It features a temperature control knob (thermostat) that allows users to adjust the internal temperature of the appliance. The control panel includes a red alarm light for temperature control and a green light indicating operation. An open door alarm switch provides an acoustic warning if the door is left open, helping to maintain optimal temperatures and prevent energy waste. The freezer compartment is equipped with drawers, including a dedicated freezing zone drawer for fresh/cooked food, and some models may include an ice tray for making ice cubes. The appliance also incorporates an antibacterial anti-odour filter, which should be positioned in the fan (if available) to maintain hygiene. The internal lighting system uses LED lights, offering better illumination and lower energy consumption compared to traditional bulbs.

Usage Features

First Time Use: After installation, it is crucial to wait at least two hours before connecting the appliance to the power supply. Once connected, turn the thermostat knob to switch on the appliance. For the correct storage temperature to be reached, especially in a normally filled appliance, allow 4-6 hours. If an antibacterial anti-odour filter is available, position it in the fan as instructed in its packaging.

Temperature Control: The thermostat knob controls the internal temperature. The "0" position indicates that the appliance operation is interrupted. For normal ambient conditions (between +20°C and +25°C), a middle position for the thermostat knob is recommended. To achieve colder or warmer temperatures than -18°C, adjust the knob to the highest or lowest setting, respectively. Internal temperatures are influenced by the appliance's location, ambient air temperature, and door opening frequency. Therefore, the thermostat setting may need to be adjusted accordingly. To verify the food temperature, place a thermometer (if delivered) under the food.

Operation and Temperature Control Lamps: When the appliance is plugged in and the thermostat knob is not set to "0", both the green and red lamps will light up. The green light indicates the appliance's operation and remains constantly lit. The red light remains lit until the set operation temperature is reached. It will also light up if the freezer's internal temperature rises due to frequent or prolonged door openings, or when fresh food has been loaded for freezing.

Freezing Fresh Food: To optimize food preservation during defrosting, it is advisable to set the temperature colder or activate the Fast Freeze/Fast Cool function (if available) at least four hours before removing food from the freezer compartment. The quantity of fresh food that can be frozen within a specific period is indicated on the rating plate. Ensure that baskets, flaps, drawers, and shelves can close easily after loading to maintain proper temperature.

Open Door Alarm: The appliance is equipped with an acoustic alarm that sounds when the door is left open, reminding users to close it and prevent temperature fluctuations.

Light System: The refrigerator compartment uses LED lights for illumination. These lights are energy-efficient and provide clear visibility of the contents.

Maintenance Features

Defrosting the Freezer Compartment: To defrost, unplug the appliance and remove all drawers. Leave the door open to allow the frost to melt naturally. To prevent water from escaping, place an absorbent cloth at the bottom of the freezer compartment and wring it out regularly. After defrosting, clean the inside of the freezer compartment thoroughly and dry it carefully before turning the appliance back on and returning the food. If a STOP FROST accessory is present, follow its specific cleaning instructions.

Making Ice Cubes (if applicable): Fill the ice tray two-thirds with water and place it in the freezer compartment. Avoid using sharp or pointed objects to remove ice, as this can damage the appliance.

General Information: The drawers, baskets, and shelves should generally be kept in their current positions unless otherwise specified in this guide. This ensures optimal air circulation and storage efficiency. For disposal, doors and lids of the refrigeration appliance should be removed to prevent children or animals from getting trapped inside.

Troubleshooting: The manual provides a troubleshooting section for common issues. If the appliance doesn't work, check for power failures, proper plug insertion, functioning electrical system protection devices, an unbroken power cable, and ensure the thermostat knob is not set to "0". If the inside light doesn't work, the light bulb may need replacement. For insufficient cooling, verify that doors are closed, the appliance is not near a heat source, the temperature is set appropriately, and ventilation grilles are not obstructed. Excessive noise may indicate improper installation. Excessive frost in the freezer could be due to an improperly closed door or require defrosting. A hot front edge of the appliance where door gaskets seal is normal and prevents condensation. If the red light is continuously on or flashing, indicating high internal temperature, check that the door is properly shut, the thermostat setting is correct, the freezer is not near a heat source, there is no large frost buildup, and air flow is not restricted.
