The FEB system consists of adistancewarning
function with an autonomousemergency brak-
ingfunction and adaptivebrakeassistfunction.
TheFEB system canhelp youtominimise the
risk of acollision with the vehicle in front or re-
ducethe effects of suchacollision
If the FEB system detectsthatthere is ariskofa
collision, youwillbewarned visually and acous-
tically.Ifyou do not react to the visual and au-
dible collision warning, autonomousbraking
canbeinitiated in critical situations. If youap-
ply the brakeyourself in acritical situation, the
adaptive brak eassist function assists you.
Distancewarning function
The distancewarning function canhelp youto
minimise the risk of acollision with the vehicle
in front or reducethe effects of suchacollision.
If the distancewarning function detects that
there is ariskofacollision, youwillbewarned
visually and acoustically.
Thedistancewarning function issues awarning
at speeds:
•
Of approximately 30 km/h or more, if,over several
seconds the distancemaintained to the vehicle
travelling in frontis insufficient.The distancewarn-
ing light then lights up in the combination meter.
•
Of approximately 7km/h or more, if yourapidly
approachavehicle in front. An intermittent warn-
ing tone will then sound and the distancewarning
light will light up in the combination meter.
If awarning is issued:
•
Brakeimmediately in orderto increasethedistance
from the vehicle in front.
or
•
Take evasive action provided it is safe to do so.
Duetothe nature of the system, particularly
complicated but non-critical driving conditions
mayalso causethe system to display awarning.
Up to aspeed of approximately 70 km/h, the
distancewarning function canalso react to sta-
tionaryobstacles suchasstopped or parked ve-
hicle.
If

cle and the distance
warning function detects ariskofacollision,
thesystem will alert youboth visually and
acoustically.
Autonomous brakingfunction
If thedriver does not react to the distancewarn-
ingsignal in acritical situation, the FEB system
canassist with the autonomous braking func-
tion
Theautonomousbraking function:
•
Gives the driver moretime to react to critical driv-
ingsituations.
•
Canhelp the driver to avoid an accident or reduces
theeffects of an accident.
Vehicles without Intelligent Cruise Control:
The autonomousbraking function is available in
the followingspeed ranges:
•
7-105 km/h for moving objects
•
7-50 km/h for stationaryobjects
Vehicles with Intelligent Cruise Control:
The autonomousbraking functionis available in
the followingspeed ranges:
•
7-200 km/h for moving objects
•
7-50 km/h for stationaryobjects
Adaptive brakeassist function
Adaptive brakeassist function provides braking
assistanceinhazardous situations at speeds
above 7km/h. It uses radar sensor technology
to assessthe traffic situation.
