How to fix loss of power in my Ingersoll-Rand 1 Series Drill?
- DDebbie PerezAug 12, 2025
Loss of power in your Ingersoll-Rand Drill can stem from several causes. Start by checking the air supply to ensure the air pressure is at 90 psig (6.2 bar/620 kPa) at the inlet for optimal performance. Also, inspect and clean the air strainer or inlet screen using a suitable cleaning solution, replacing it if cleaning isn't effective. A clogged muffler or exhaust silencer could also be the culprit; clean the muffler element or replace it if necessary. Other potential issues include worn or broken vanes (replace the complete set), a damaged rear end plate gasket (install a new one), a worn or broken cylinder (replace if cracked or scored), or improper lubrication/dirt build-up (clean and lubricate the motor unit parts).
