Why is my Ingersoll-Rand Drill losing power?
- Mmargaret14Jul 27, 2025
If your Ingersoll-Rand Drill loses power, first check the air supply to ensure it's at 90 psig (6.2 bar/620 kPa) at the inlet for optimal performance. Also, the issue might be due to a plugged air strainer or inlet screen; clean it with a suitable cleaning solution, or replace it if cleaning isn't effective. A clogged muffler or exhaust silencer can also cause power loss; clean the muffler element or replace it if necessary. Other potential causes include worn or broken vanes (replace the set), a damaged rear end plate gasket (install a new one), a worn or broken cylinder (replace if cracked or scored), or improper lubrication/dirt buildup (clean and lubricate the motor unit parts as instructed).
