8.3 VRRP
8.3.1 Brief Introduction of VRRP
As shown in Figure 8-3, the same default route with gateway as the next hop will usually be set for
all the hosts in the same network segment. The package sent by hosts to other network segments
will be sent to the gateway through the default route and then be forwarded by the gateway, thus
achieving communication between the host and external network. In case of gateway failure, all
hosts with the gateway as the default route in the network segment are unable to communicate with
external networks.
