Overview

The INOXSmart BLE / Wi-Fi / Zigbee Gateway (ISGW-BZ31-WH) and Power Over Ethernet (POE) Gateway (ISGW-BP22-SP-WH) are designed to facilitate communication between smart devices and the INOX Smart App, enabling control and monitoring of smart locks and access control devices. These gateways act as central hubs, bridging different wireless protocols to provide a comprehensive smart home or multi-family access solution.

BLE / Wi-Fi / Zigbee Gateway (ISGW-BZ31-WH)

This gateway is a compact, wall-plug design that supports multiple communication protocols, making it versatile for various smart home ecosystems.

  • Function Description: The ISGW-BZ31-WH serves as a bridge for Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), Wi-Fi, and Zigbee devices. It allows smart locks and other compatible devices to connect to the internet via Wi-Fi, enabling remote control, monitoring, and integration with the INOX Smart App. The Zigbee protocol extends its compatibility to a wider range of smart home devices, while BLE provides local, energy-efficient communication.

  • Important Technical Specifications:

    • Communication Protocol: BLE, Wi-Fi, Zigbee.
    • Protocol Specs:
      • BLE: 4.2 IEEE 802.15.4
      • Wi-Fi: 2.4G IEEE 802.11n
      • Zigbee: 3.0 IEEE 802.15.4
    • Power Input: 110~220V, indicating it's designed for standard wall outlets.
    • Read Range:
      • 55' with clear line of sight.
      • 20' through 2 walls, demonstrating its ability to penetrate obstacles, albeit with reduced range.
    • Operating Temperature: 14°F to 122°F, suitable for a wide range of indoor environments.
    • Dimensions: Approximately 2-1/4" (57mm) by 2-1/4" (57mm) by 1-1/8" (29mm) with the prongs, and 1/2" (13mm) depth for the main body, making it a relatively small and unobtrusive device.
  • Usage Features:

    • Controls and Indicators:
      • Wi-Fi LED (Red): Indicates the status of the Wi-Fi connection.
      • Pairing LED (Blue): Indicates the device's pairing status.
      • Reset Button: Allows for resetting the device, typically used for troubleshooting or re-pairing.
    • Pairing Process with INOX Smart App:
      1. From the Lock Screen, tap the Settings icon in the bottom right corner.
      2. To add a gateway, tap the "+" icon in the bottom right corner.
      3. Choose "Auto Detect" to search for available devices.
      4. The screen will populate with available Bluetooth devices. Tap the desired gateway and then "Confirm."
      5. For Wi-Fi connection, select a 2.4GHz network and enter the password. Note that 5GHz networks are not compatible. If connecting to a POE gateway, no Wi-Fi password is required.
      6. If the password field is left blank for a Wi-Fi connection on an iOS device, a reminder screen will appear. Users can tap "Cancel" to enter the password or "Confirm" if connecting to a POE gateway.
      7. Enter a name for the gateway. If a firmware update is available, the "Device Update" field will show "Available." Tap "Available" to update, then "Confirm" to complete pairing.
      8. The gateway will then appear in the list of paired devices for the specific door in the app.
  • Maintenance Features: The presence of a reset button suggests basic troubleshooting capabilities. Firmware updates, as indicated in the pairing process, allow for continuous improvement and security enhancements.

Power Over Ethernet (POE) Gateway (ISGW-BP22-SP-WH)

This gateway is designed for more robust and stable network connections, leveraging Power Over Ethernet technology.

  • Function Description: The ISGW-BP22-SP-WH provides network connectivity and power through a single Ethernet cable, simplifying installation and ensuring a reliable connection for smart devices. It supports Wi-Fi, Ethernet, and Bluetooth Mesh communication, making it suitable for larger installations or environments where a stable wired connection is preferred. It acts as a central point for managing access control devices and smart locks within the INOX Smart ecosystem.

  • Important Technical Specifications:

    • Type: BLE-POE, Power Over Ethernet.
    • Power Input: DC 5V 1A, delivered via Ethernet.
    • Communication Method: Wi-Fi, Ethernet, Bluetooth Mesh. This combination offers flexibility and redundancy in connectivity.
    • Read Range: 25'~30', indicating its effective range for Bluetooth Mesh communication.
    • Working Humidity: 10% to 90% RH (no condensation), allowing it to operate in various indoor humidity levels.
    • Operating Temperature: -4°F to 113°F, demonstrating a broader temperature tolerance compared to the Wi-Fi/Zigbee gateway, potentially suitable for more varied indoor or semi-protected outdoor environments.
    • Storage Temperature: 41°F to 113°F.
    • Dimensions: Approximately 3-9/16" (91mm) by 3-13/32" (86.2mm) by 5/8" (16.1mm) for the main unit, and the splitter cable is 1-9/16" (40mm) by 11/16" (11mm).
  • Usage Features:

    • What's in the Box:
      • BLE / Wi-Fi Gateway (the main unit).
      • Splitter Cable (for POE functionality, separating power and data).
      • Ethernet Cable.
    • Controls and Indicators:
      • Status Indicator: Provides visual feedback on the device's operational status.
      • Distribution Network Indicator: Shows the status of the network distribution.
      • Reset Button: For resetting the device.
      • Power Socket: For direct power input if POE is not used or as an alternative.
      • Network Cable Jack: For the Ethernet connection.
    • Pairing Process with INOX Smart App: The pairing steps are largely similar to the Wi-Fi/Zigbee gateway, with the key difference being the power and network connection method. When pairing a POE gateway, the Wi-Fi password is not required as it uses a wired Ethernet connection for network access.
  • Maintenance Features: Includes a reset button for troubleshooting. The use of Ethernet for both power and data can lead to more stable and reliable operation, reducing the need for frequent maintenance related to wireless connectivity issues. Firmware updates are also supported, ensuring the device remains up-to-date with the latest features and security patches.

Both gateways are integral to the INOX Smart ecosystem, providing the necessary connectivity for smart access control. The choice between the two depends on the specific installation requirements, with the ISGW-BZ31-WH offering a simpler, plug-and-play wireless solution, and the ISGW-BP22-SP-WH providing a more robust, wired connection with POE capabilities for enhanced reliability and simplified cabling.
