The GVE340 HDMI HDBaseT-Lite Extender extends an HDBaseT signal
up to 70m from the HDBaseT source using one Cat 5e/6/6a cable.
GVE340 supports RS-232 and IR signal pass-through, allowing you to
control the HDMI source device from the remote unit (GVE340R) while
also allowing access to the HDMI display device from the local unit
(GVE340T) as an HDMI local pass-through. IR signals can also be
extended in both directions.
The GVE340 features Power over HDBaseT (POH) which can send
power over Cat 5e/6/6a cable without an additional power supply.
The GVE340 is HDMI (3D, Deep Color, 4k) and HDCP compatible. The
GVE340 is perfect for a digital entertainment center or any installation
that requires superior video quality.

Do you have a question about the IOGear GVE340 and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

The IOGEAR GVE340 HDBaseT HD Extender is a device designed to extend HDMI, RS-232, and IR signals over a single Cat 5e/6/6a cable. It consists of two main units: a Transmitter (GVE340T) and a Receiver (GVE340R).

Function Description:

The primary function of the GVE340 is to extend HDBaseT signals, including HDMI, RS-232, and IR, up to 70 meters (approximately 230 feet) using a single Cat 5e/6/6a cable. This allows for flexible placement of video sources and displays, overcoming the distance limitations of standard HDMI cables.

  • HDMI Extension: The device supports the extension of HDMI signals, including 3D, Deep Color, and 4K resolutions. It is also HDCP compatible, ensuring compatibility with protected content. The Transmitter unit (GVE340T) features an HDMI Input Port to connect to the video source and an HDMI Output Port for local pass-through to a nearby display. The Receiver unit (GVE340R) has an HDBaseT Input Port to receive the extended signal and an HDMI Output Port to connect to the remote display.
  • RS-232 Pass-through: The GVE340 facilitates RS-232 signal pass-through, enabling control of the HDMI source device from the remote location (via the Receiver) or control of the display device from the local location (via the Transmitter). This is useful for integrating with control systems, touchscreens, or bar code scanners. Both the Transmitter and Receiver units include an RS-232 Port, which is a terminal block for connecting serial devices.
  • IR Support: The extender supports IR (infrared) signal pass-through in both directions. This means you can control the source device from the display location or control the display device from the source location using standard IR remote controls. Both units are equipped with an IR Port for connecting IR Extender cables (IR Receiver and IR Transmitter).
  • Power over HDBaseT (PoH): A key feature of the GVE340 is Power over HDBaseT (PoH). This allows the Receiver unit to be powered directly through the Cat 5e/6/6a cable from the Transmitter, eliminating the need for an additional power adapter at the display end. This simplifies installation and reduces cable clutter. The Transmitter unit requires a power adapter, which is included.
