MAINTENANCE
The lenses have anti-reective coating and are
dirt resistant. However, they are not scratch-
proof. Use only cleaning agents intended for
optics. Larger impurities should be removed
rst with compressed air or with a clean soft
brush.
WARNINGS
The lens is equipped with a seal to protect the
interior from dust and moisture. It is not, how-
ever, completely waterproof. Do not submerge
it in water or store it for extended periods
of time in humid places. To achieve better
water-tightness, use of the front protective
lter is recommended.
Protect the lens from shock, being dropped
and excessive vibration, and do not leave the
lens in direct sunlight as a focused light beam
may cause a re. Do not expose the lens to
high temperatures. Do not look through the
lens at the sun or in its general direction, as
that may cause permanent eye damage.
The lens and its attached accessories should
be kept away from children and animals,
as they contain small elements that constitute
a choking hazard.

Overview

This document is the user manual for the Irix 30mm f/1.4 lens, a wide-angle, manual focus lens designed for full-frame or smaller sensor cameras.

Function Description

The Irix 30mm f/1.4 lens is designed for photographers who require a wide lens with manual focus capabilities. It is crafted from high-quality materials and incorporates advanced technology and solutions, making it suitable for both professional and hobbyist use. The lens is equipped with a focus lock ring, allowing users to secure the focusing ring in a chosen position. It also features a lens hood to prevent glare and lens flare, which can degrade image contrast and cause light reflections. The aperture is controlled electronically through the camera.

Usage Features

  1. Front Lens Cap [1]: Protects the front lens and should always be in place when the lens is not in use.
  2. Front Filter Thread [2]: The lens supports 86 x 1.0mm screw-in filters. Filters should be screwed on clockwise. Before fully tightening, ensure the filter's glass surface does not contact the lens to prevent damage.
  3. Lens Hood [3]: Used to block light sources to prevent glare and lens flare. To attach, align the white position marker lines and turn clockwise until a "click" is heard. To remove, turn counter-clockwise. For transport, the lens hood can be attached in the reversed position.
  4. Focus Lock Ring [4]: Allows locking the focusing ring in a chosen position. To lock, rotate the ring left until resistance is felt. To unlock, rotate it all the way to the right. Forcibly rotating the focus ring when locked can cause permanent damage.
  5. Focus Ring [5]: The lens is manual focus only. To focus, adjust the ring while observing the image in the viewfinder or on the camera screen. The distance scale (in feet or meters) on the lens body can also be used to estimate the distance to the subject.
  6. Lens Mount [6]: The marker (dot) on the lens body assists in mounting the lens onto the camera. Refer to the camera's user manual for specific mounting instructions, as procedures may vary between systems.
  7. Rear Lens Cap [7]: Protects the lens during transport and should be in place when the lens is not attached to the camera.
  8. Aperture Control [8]: The lens aperture is controlled electronically via the camera. Consult the camera's user manual for detailed information on aperture operation, as it may differ across systems.
  9. Lens Hardcase [9]: It is recommended to store the lens in a hard case to protect it from dust and scratches. However, a hard case does not protect against water, drops, or shock.

Maintenance Features

  • Anti-Reflective Coating: The lenses feature an anti-reflective coating and are dirt resistant, but not scratch-proof.
  • Cleaning: Use only cleaning agents specifically designed for optics. Larger impurities should first be removed with compressed air or a clean, soft brush.
  • Weather Sealing: The lens is equipped with a seal to protect the interior from dust and moisture. However, it is not completely waterproof. Do not submerge it in water or store it in humid conditions for extended periods. Using a front protective filter is recommended for enhanced water-tightness.
  • Protection: Protect the lens from shock, drops, and excessive vibration. Avoid leaving the lens in direct sunlight, as a focused light beam can cause a fire. Do not expose the lens to high temperatures. Never look through the lens at the sun or in its general direction, as this can cause permanent eye damage.
  • Safety: Keep the lens and its accessories away from children and animals, as they contain small elements that could pose a choking hazard.
  • Warranty: Unsupervised dismantling of the lens will result in permanent damage and void the warranty. In case of any faulty operation, contact an authorized Irix service point.
