Overview

The JBM 53794 AET-R1B1 is a non-sterile, reusable, handheld infrared thermometer designed for measuring human body temperature from the forehead. It is suitable for use by consumers in a homecare environment and by medical professionals in clinics, for individuals aged three months and above. The device operates as an adjusted mode clinical thermometer, and the patient can act as the operator for both use and maintenance.

Function Description:

The thermometer measures temperature by detecting infrared heat emitted from the forehead. To ensure accurate readings, the device should be placed at a distance of 15mm to 50mm from the forehead. The measurement process involves pressing the "ON/OFF/MEASURE" button to turn on the device, which will emit a beep and display "---°C" indicating readiness. Subsequently, placing the probe near the forehead and pressing the "ON/OFF/MEASURE" button for one second will trigger a measurement, accompanied by a beep and the temperature reading on the LED screen. For consecutive readings, users should wait for the "---°C" symbol to flash again. The device automatically switches off after approximately 60 seconds of inactivity.

The thermometer provides visual and auditory alerts for temperature readings outside the normal range. A reading below 32°C will display "Lo" and trigger two consecutive beeps. A reading above 37.8°C will result in six consecutive beeps, while a reading above 42.2°C will display "Hi" and trigger two consecutive beeps.

Users can recall up to 32 previous temperature readings by ensuring the thermometer is off, then pressing and holding the "ON/OFF/MEASURE" button for 4 seconds to enter memory mode. Subsequent presses of the button will cycle through the stored readings from the latest to the earliest.

The temperature scale (°C or °F) can be changed by ensuring the thermometer is off, then pressing and holding the "ON/OFF/MEASURE" button for 8 seconds to enter temperature mode. Releasing and pressing the button again will toggle between the two units. The device will automatically turn off after 4 seconds of inactivity in this mode, displaying the last reading.

Maintenance Features:

  • Cleaning: The thermometer body can be cleaned with a soft, dry cloth to remove stains. The sensor tip should be gently wiped with a cotton swab or soft cloth moistened with clinical alcohol. Ensure the alcohol has completely dried before using the thermometer. Avoid washing with water or detergents containing abrasive or benzene, and do not immerse the device in liquids.
  • Battery Replacement: When the battery icon flashes, new 2xAAA batteries should be installed. To do this, press and hold the battery cover, slide it upward to remove, install the batteries according to positive and negative poles, and then close the cover. If the thermometer will not be used for an extended period, the batteries should be removed.
  • Storage: Store the device away from extreme temperatures (high or low), humidity, direct sunlight, electrical currents, or dusty environments.
