Display messages
The status bar of the display contains a status line and a details line beneath it. The status line
contains a message that describes the operating state of the chiller, for example whether it is
stopped, running, starting, or shutting down. The details line displays warning, cycling, safety, start
inhibit, and other messages that provide further details of the status bar messages. See Table 104
for the status messages that are displayed on the status line. All other messages are displayed on
the details line. For convenience, they are listed in alphabetical order.
To better communicate the meaning of the message, messages are displayed in the following
colors:
• Normal operation messages: Green
• Warning messages: Yellow
• Cycling shutdown messages: Orange
• Safety shutdown messages: Red
Warning messages scroll between all those standing. Shutdown messages show on the first
occurrence.

Message Description
Cycling shutdown - Auto restart
This message is displayed in the system status line of the status bar while the chiller is in the stopped state, and the primary
fault that shut the chiller down was a cycling fault, and that fault has not been cleared yet. The chiller automatically restarts
when the fault condition has cleared. See Cycling shutdown messages.
System startup
The chiller is performing the startup functions when no faults or start inhibits are present. Simultaneously, the compressor
VGD is commanded to 0% start up position. The motor drive is commanded to pre-charge and pre-regulate. Simultaneously,
the MBC is commanded to levitate and when the the rotor is levitated and rotation allowed is received from the MBC, the
motor drive speed is ramped to the VSD start up frequency. The chiller then transitions to run when all of the following are
true.
• MBC initialization occurred
• MBC alarms not present
• MBC fault contacts are closed
• MBC is in rotation allowed mode
• MBC motor speed is 0 Hz
• Chilled liquid flow switch is closed
• VSD control state is waiting to run
If the local panel safety stop switch is pressed or any chiller shutdown faults other than those listed previously occur, soft
shutdown is immediately terminated and a system coastdown occurs. See System startup messages.
Safety shutdown - Manual restart
The chiller is shut down on a safety shutdown. The cause of the shutdown is still in effect and is displayed on the details line
of the status bar. The chiller can be started after the safety condition clears and the operator presses the clear fault key. See
Safety shutdown messages.
Soft shutdown
The chiller is performing a soft shutdown. Simultaneously, the compressor VGD is commanded to close rapidly. The motor
drive speed is slowed from its initial speed to the minimum required to prevent surge. Then the motor drive speed is ramped
to 0 Hz. The chiller then transitions to coastdown.
Soft shutdown is initiated by any the following:
• Leaving chilled liquid - low temperature
• Multi-unit cycling - contacts open
• Local panel stop key
• Remote stop
• Any MBC fault occurs
• System cycling - contacts open
• Control panel - schedule
• Chilled liquid - Flow switch open fault active
• Expansion I/O - Serial communications fault active
If the local panel safety stop switch is pressed, or any chiller shutdown faults other than those listed above occur, soft
shutdown is immediately terminated and a system coastdown occurs.
Start inhibit
The chiller is prevented from being started due to the reason displayed on the details line of the status bar. See Start inhibit
messages.
Normal shutdown
A local stop, initiated by the operator pressing the soft stop button on the home screen or a remote stop initiated by the
remote device. A normal shutdown indicates that the chiller has been shut down, but that no chiller malfunctions has
occurred.
System coastdown
The chiller has shut down and removed the run signal from the motor VSD. The system is waiting for confirmation that the
driveline has stopped rotating. When the MBC reports a frequency of 0 Hz for 2 s, coastdown is considered completed. Then,
after 60 s delay the VSD pre-charge command is released.
