YVAM HYP0730C compressor drive added features
The HYP0730C drive is used on the YVAM mod B chiller has some new features:
The HYP0730C drive used on the YVAM Mod B chiller contains additional heaters for improved
low ambient start-up of the chiller.
The new HYP0730C replaces the smart sensor system with an electronic signature board. This
new board provides more information about where a problem is located and disables the drive
without the removal of input power to the chiller.
A new voltage transient board, containing a high-power capable device. The large voltage surge
suppressor is not needed.
Low ambient operation
Due to the physical size of the YVAM HYP0730C drive, additional heating is needed to reduce time in
the low ambient start inhibit. This drive contains the same heater as the HYP0490B, but it also has
a heater on the coolant reservoir and coolant heat exchanger. These heaters are thermostatically
controlled at the heater. Additional heating is provided by turn on the rectifier for the drive. The
drive does not run the compressor motor during this time. The coolant fans do not run until the
ambient temperature is greater than 32°F (0°C). To prevent damage to the pump, the coolant pump
cycles on and off when the coolant is cold enough to become slushy. This occurs when coolant
temperature is less than -9°F (-23°C).
Electronic signature board
The electronic signature board installed in YVAM HYP0730C drive is an enhancement over the smart
sensor system. The smart sensor system was a great improvement in protecting the drive, but it
did not provide much information about where the problem is located. The electronic signature
board is the heart of a new system that can detect problems with the input and output capacitor
assemblies and provide the protection of the smart sensor system. This board can detect problems
in the capacitor assemblies before they start to overheat and communicate to the drive logic board
if there is a problem with the capacitors or with the CO cell on the board. This board also contains a
