4.5.2 Receiving safety or urgency individual calls
When receiving an individual DSC call from a coast or ship station, according to the message,
perform the following procedures as appropriate.
■ Procedure ■
After pressing the ENT button to close the BAM alert
display, the screen at right is displayed, and the ALM
lamp blinks and the alert grows louder gradually.
If no procedure exists, starts operating the
received message automatically.
In the case of the urgency category, the
receiving alert is stopped only by pressing
CANCEL key.
Basically similar to the routine individual call
except normally using the distress and safety
frequencies prior to other frequencies.

(1) Safety test calls
■ Procedure ■
After pressing the ENT button to close the BAM alert
display, the screen at right is displayed, and the ALM
lamp blinks and the alert grows louder gradually.
If received while the 7.5.1.1 Test call of the
Automatic ACK menu is set to ON and there is
no active procedure, this call can be
acknowledged automatically.
To acknowledge manually, after silencing the alert
with CANCEL key, select ACK to start sending
procedure.
(2) Safety position request calls
■ Procedure ■
After pressing the ENT button to close the BAM alert
display, the screen at right is displayed, and the ALM
lamp blinks and the alert grows louder gradually.
If received while the 7.5.1.2 Position RQ call of
the Automatic ACK menu is set to ON and there
is no active procedure, this call can be
acknowledged automatically.
To acknowledge manually, after silencing the alert
with CANCEL key, select ACK to start sending
procedure.
When sending a reply as “unable to comply”,
select NCK to send the acknowledgement with
no position data.
