Overview

The Kambrook Egg Cooker, model KEG655, is a versatile kitchen appliance designed for preparing eggs in various styles, including boiled, poached, and mini-omelettes. Its compact and user-friendly design makes it a convenient tool for everyday use, ensuring consistent results with minimal effort.

Function Description

The primary function of the Kambrook Egg Cooker is to cook eggs using steam generated from a water reservoir. It features a non-stick heating plate/water reservoir where water is added directly. The appliance comes with a transparent lid, an egg rack for boiling up to 8 eggs, and a poaching tray for preparing 1 to 3 poached eggs or mini-omelettes. A calibrated measuring cup with an integrated egg piercing needle is included to ensure precise water measurements for desired egg consistency (soft, medium, or hard boiled) and to prevent eggshells from cracking during cooking. The ON/OFF dial controls the cooking process, and a heating indicator light signals when the appliance is in operation. An audible buzzer indicates when cooking is complete.

Usage Features

The Kambrook Egg Cooker is designed for straightforward operation. Before first use, it is essential to remove all packaging materials and promotional labels. The lid, measuring cup, egg rack, and poaching tray should be washed and dried thoroughly. The appliance should be placed on a flat, heat-resistant surface, and the control dial should be in the 'OFF' position before plugging it into a 230V or 240V power outlet.

For boiling eggs, the egg rack is used. The measuring cup is filled with cold tap water to the appropriate marking for soft, medium, or hard-boiled eggs, and this water is poured into the heating plate/water reservoir. The egg rack is then placed over the reservoir. To prevent cracking, the blunt end of each egg should be pierced with the needle located at the base of the measuring cup before placing them in the egg rack with the pierced side facing upwards. Up to 8 eggs, with a suggested maximum size of 70 grams each, can be boiled at one time. For best results with fewer than 8 eggs, they should be placed in the center of the rack. The transparent lid is then placed on the egg cooker, and the control dial is turned to 'ON' to start cooking. The heating indicator light will illuminate orange, and a buzzer will sound when cooking is complete, at which point the dial should be switched to 'OFF'. Care must be taken when lifting the lid and removing the egg rack/tray due to escaping steam and water condensation.

For poaching eggs, the poaching tray is utilized, placed on top of the egg rack. Similar to boiling, the measuring cup is filled with cold tap water to the appropriate marking for soft, medium, or hard poached eggs, and the water is poured into the reservoir. The egg rack is placed over the reservoir, followed by the greased poaching tray. Eggs are gently broken into the cooking wells, ensuring the yolk remains intact. The transparent lid is then placed, and the control dial is turned to 'ON'. The cooking process and safety precautions are similar to boiling eggs, with the buzzer signaling completion. A spoon or heat-proof spatula is recommended for removing poached eggs from the tray.

For mini-omelettes, the poaching tray is also used. Water is added to the reservoir according to the guide. The poaching tray is greased, and whisked eggs, with any additional ingredients, are poured evenly into the cooking wells, taking care not to overfill. The lid is placed, and the cooking process is initiated by turning the dial to 'ON'. Once the buzzer sounds, the omelettes can be carefully removed with a spoon or heat-proof spatula.

Throughout all cooking processes, it is crucial to only use clean tap water in the water reservoir and never operate the egg cooker without water, as this can cause permanent damage. Unnecessary removal of the lid and egg rack/tray during cooking should be avoided, as it can reduce cooking time and undercook the eggs. The appliance should not be moved while in operation, and hot surfaces should be avoided by using oven mitts when handling the egg cooker, lid, egg rack, and poaching tray.

Maintenance Features

Proper care and cleaning are essential to maintain the Kambrook Egg Cooker's performance and longevity. Before cleaning, the appliance must be switched off at the power outlet, unplugged, and allowed to cool completely.

The transparent lid, egg rack, poaching tray, and measuring cup can be washed in warm, soapy water, rinsed, and dried thoroughly. Alternatively, these parts are dishwasher safe and can be placed on the top shelf. However, it is important not to use the "HEATED RINSE" setting in the dishwasher, as high temperatures can damage the product.

The heating plate/water reservoir should be wiped with a soft, damp cloth and dried thoroughly. For any water scale build-up, a cloth immersed in white vinegar can be placed on the cold heating plate/water reservoir surface for 10 minutes. After this, the cloth should be removed, and the surface wiped with a clean, damp cloth and dried thoroughly.

It is critical to avoid using chemicals, steel wool, metal scouring pads, or abrasive cleaners on the outside of the egg cooker housing, lid, or egg rack/tray, as these can cause damage. The egg cooker base, cord, and plug should never be immersed in water or any other liquid to prevent electric shock. Instead, the base should be wiped with a damp cloth.

For storage, all accessories, including the egg rack, poaching tray, and measuring cup, should be assembled into the egg cooker, and the lid placed into position. The appliance should then be stored in a cool, dry place. Regular inspection of the appliance and power cord is recommended, and any damaged parts should be returned to an authorized Kambrook Service Centre for examination and/or repair.
