INFORMATION FOR USE
FIRST USE
First time use or after a period time of inactivity,
clean the water circuit to flavor the appliance: this
is as easy as preparing a coffee (proceed to the
normal preparation of espresso), do it twice or three-
times putting on the filter holder and not much coffee.
FOR A WARM AND
CREAMY ESPRESSO
Every time you first use the appliance making a cup
of coffee is enough to pre-heat the machine: put
Kamira on the stove leaving the valve (G) in the
horizontal position and the cup under the coffee tube
distribution. Do the operation for 10-15 seconds
setting the burner to maximum.
TO PREPARE SEVERAL CUPS OF
CREAMY COFFEE CONSECUTIVELY
To prepare several coffees consecutively, it is
necessary to cool down the bottom chamber each
time holding it under the water jet. Warning: before
doing it, turn the valve (G) to the vertical position.
PREPARATION WITH FILTER
HOLDER FOR 2 CUPS
With the filter holder for 2 cups you can
prepare two coffees simultaneously or
simply obtain a double coffee.
The preparation of the coffee is the
same as the filter holder for 1 cup, but
in this case you have to top-off the
water tank.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
MAINTENANCE
• Regularly check that all the elements of Kamira
are undamaged, in particular the gasket (D).
Clean the appliance, only externally, using a normal
dishwashing liquid.
Keep the location of the gasket clean.
• It is recommended to periodically remove the
limestone that can be in bottom chamber after a
period of using the appliance. You can pour some
vinegar (2 cups) in the bottom chamber through
the water tank. Leave the vinegar for 5-6 hours,
bring the valve lever (G) to the horizontal position
and turn the bottom chamber of the Kamira drain
upside down, at the end repeat the procedure for
the first use.
Use only original Kamira spare parts.

Overview

The Kamira is an ecological espresso maker designed to produce creamy coffee. It is intended for household use and is a pressure appliance.

Function Description:

The Kamira operates by heating water in a boiler and forcing it through ground coffee in a filter holder to produce espresso. The process involves several steps:

  1. Water Loading: Water is poured into the water tank (C).
  2. Water Transfer to Boiler: The lever valve (G) is moved to a vertical position to allow water to drain from the water tank (C) into the boiler (H). If water does not drain, the Kamira may need to be placed on a heat source for a few seconds.
  3. Coffee Preparation: Ground coffee is placed into the filter holder (E) and lightly tamped, leveled, and the border cleaned. The filter holder is then inserted into the appliance by pushing it clockwise.
  4. Heating: The Kamira is placed on a stove, and the burner is set to medium heat.
  5. Brewing: As the water heats, it creates pressure, forcing hot water through the coffee. When the coffee starts brewing with beads of cream, the burner is set to high for 8 to 10 minutes.
  6. Completion: When the coffee cup is half full, the burner is turned off, allowing the coffee to continue brewing. To stop brewing and flush residual pressure, the lever valve (G) is slowly turned to the vertical position.

The Kamira can prepare single or double coffees depending on the filter holder used. For two cups, the water tank needs to be topped off.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Components:
    • Thermo Handle (A): For safely holding the appliance.
    • Lid (B): Covers the water tank.
    • Water Tank (C): Holds water for brewing.
    • Gasket (D): Ensures a seal in the system.
    • Filter Holder (E): Holds ground coffee. Available for one or two cups.
    • Loading and Unloading Valve (F): Part of the mechanism for water flow.
    • Lever Valve (G): Controls water flow from the tank to the boiler and releases pressure.
    • Boiler (H): Heats the water.
    • Safety Valve (I): A safety feature that releases steam if pressure is too high.
  • Pressure Appliance: The Kamira operates under pressure, requiring careful handling, especially when draining the bottom chamber.
  • Heat Source: Designed for use on a stove.

Usage Features:

  • First Use/After Inactivity: Before first use or after a period of inactivity, the water circuit should be cleaned and flavored by preparing coffee twice or three times with the filter holder on but using little coffee.
  • Pre-heating: To ensure a warm and creamy espresso, pre-heating the machine by making one cup of coffee is recommended before the first actual brew of the day.
  • Consecutive Cups: To prepare multiple cups consecutively, the bottom chamber needs to be cooled down under a water jet each time. Before doing this, the lever valve (G) must be in the vertical position.
  • Coffee Type: Only common blend coffee used for traditional moka pots should be used. Coffee blends that are too fine (specific for coffee bar machines) are not suitable.
  • Safety:
    • Do not remove the filter holder (E) before draining the bottom chamber (as shown in Fig. 14) to prevent severe burns.
    • After brewing, turn the lever of the drain valve (G) very slowly to avoid hot water spillage and burns. Keep the tank top (B) closed and hands away during this operation.
    • Always hold the appliance by the thermo handle (A).
    • The safety valve (I) may occasionally splash steam or whistle, which is normal and indicates an overburden of coffee, use of a non-blend moka, or too much water in the bottom chamber. Do not damage the safety valve.
  • User Capabilities: This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless supervised or instructed by a responsible person. Children should be supervised to ensure they do not play with the appliance.
  • Warranty: The Kamira has a five-year warranty from the date of purchase, covering defects and compliance with directive 99/44 CE, excluding attachments subject to wear (gaskets, valves, levers, handles, links). The warranty is valid only if the appliance has not been tampered with, all instructions have been followed, and it has not been damaged by negligence, wreckage, limestone deposit, or other external reasons.

Maintenance Features:

  • Regular Checks: Regularly check that all Kamira elements are undamaged, especially the gasket (D).
  • Cleaning: Clean the appliance externally using a normal dishwashing liquid. Keep the gasket location clean.
  • Descaling: Periodically remove limestone from the bottom chamber. This can be done by pouring two cups of vinegar into the bottom chamber through the water tank. Leave the vinegar for 5-6 hours, then bring the lever valve (G) to the horizontal position and turn the bottom chamber of the Kamira upside down to drain. Repeat the first-use procedure afterward.
  • Spare Parts: Use only original Kamira spare parts.
  • Storage: Leaving Kamira on the stove for extended periods can damage gaskets and non-metallic parts.
  • Troubleshooting (Issues and Solutions):
    • Water not passing through tank to boiler:
      • Cause: Lever (G) lifted in horizontal position; air not coming out from boiler.
      • Solution: Turn lever (G) to vertical position; put appliance on heat source for a few seconds.
    • Coffee not brewing:
      • Cause: Lever (G) remained in vertical position; no water in boiler; filter of holder clogged.
      • Solution: Turn lever (G) to horizontal position; put water in boiler; carefully clean filter.
    • Water pouring out from filter holder:
      • Cause: Gasket (D) worn off; coffee remained on filter holder borders.
      • Solution: Change gasket; clean borders well.
    • Safety valve (I) whistles or fumes squirting steam:
      • Cause: Coffee blend pressed too much; excessive water in boiler; blend too fine.
      • Solution: Use correct quantity of coffee blend without pressing too much; reduce water; use blend for normal coffee moka pot.
    • Supplied coffee too liquid and thin:
      • Cause: Quantity of blend is poor; quantity of water is excessive; appliance too hot.
      • Solution: Correctly fill filter holder; pour only suggested water; turn lever (G) to vertical position and cool appliance under water jet.
    • Coffee not distributed equally into two cups:
      • Cause: Stand may be tilted.
      • Solution: Put appliance on a level surface; exchange cups to equilibrate.
    • Supplied coffee too rich, brown-colored, and tastes burned:
      • Cause: Quantity of blend in filter holder is excessive; quantity of water is poor.
      • Solution: Put the right quantity of coffee; put the right quantity of water.
