Overview

The Kanmor® U 510e is a programmable thermostat designed to enhance home comfort and energy efficiency for heating and cooling systems. This user-friendly device features a large display and intuitive buttons for easy operation.

Function Description:

The thermostat allows users to program heating and cooling schedules, view current temperatures, and override settings as needed. It supports various modes of operation including Off, Heat, Cool, and Auto, depending on the specific model (512e for heating and cooling) and setup.

  • Temperature Control: The thermostat maintains desired room temperatures according to programmed schedules or manual overrides. It can control heating and, for the 512e model, cooling.
  • Slab Temperature Control: If a slab sensor is connected, the thermostat can also manage minimum slab temperatures, ensuring floor warmth even during cooling cycles in Auto mode.
  • Scheduling: Users can set up either a "Four Event" or "Two Event" program, allowing for different temperatures at various times of the day (Wake, UnOcc, Occ, Sleep). Schedules can be configured for 7-day or 24-hour cycles.
  • Temperature Display: The device can display current room, outdoor, slab, and remote sensor temperatures.
  • Time Display: The current time is displayed and can be set by the user.
  • Override Functions:
    • Temporary Override: Allows for a temporary temperature adjustment that lasts for three hours without altering the permanent schedule.
    • Permanent Override: Maintains a desired temperature indefinitely until a new override is selected, without changing the existing schedule.
    • Away Override: A quick override for long periods of absence, setting heating to 62°F (16.5°C) and cooling to 82°F (28.0°C). It also ignores the minimum slab temperature if a slab sensor is used.
  • Display Backlighting: The display features backlighting that can be turned off, on, or set to operate temporarily for 60 seconds after any button press.
  • Units of Display: Users can switch between Fahrenheit (°F) and Celsius (°C) for temperature display.

Usage Features:

The thermostat's interface is divided into four fields: Menu, Item, Number, and Status, navigated using four buttons.

  • Menu Button: Used to select different menus (e.g., View, Adjust, Time, Schedule).
  • Item Button: Used to select specific items within a menu (e.g., Room temperature, minutes, hours, schedule mode).
  • Up/Down Buttons (∧ / ∨): Used to adjust settings such as temperature, time, schedule mode, and backlighting.

Setting Procedures:

  • Viewing Current Temperatures: Access the "View" menu, then use the "Item" button to cycle through Room, Outdoor, Slab, and Remote temperatures.
  • Setting Default Display: Choose either the "Time" or "View" menu, then select the desired item using the "Item" button.
  • Setting Temperatures: In the "Adjust" menu, select the desired temperature item, then use the up/down buttons to set the value.
  • Setting the Time: In the "Time" menu, use the "Item" button to select minutes, hours, or day, then use the up/down buttons to adjust.
  • Setting Schedules: In the "Schedule (SCHD)" menu, select the schedule Mode (None, 2, or 4 events), Cycle (7 day or 24 hour), and then set the beginning time for each event using the "Item" and up/down buttons.
  • Temporary Override: From the "View" menu, with Room temperature displayed, use the up/down buttons to adjust the temperature. This initiates a 3-hour override.
  • Permanent Override: From the "Schedule (SCHD)" menu, use the up/down buttons to select the desired permanent override.
  • Away Override: From the "Schedule (SCHD)" menu, use the up/down buttons to select "Away."
  • Canceling Overrides: For temporary overrides, press the "Menu" button once or twice. For permanent or away overrides, navigate to the "Schedule (SCHD)" menu and select "None."
  • Display Backlighting: In the "Adjust" menu, select "LITE," then use the up/down buttons to choose ON, OFF, or Tmpy (temporary).
  • Units of Display: In the "Adjust" menu, select the flashing temperature unit, then use the up/down buttons to switch between °F and °C.
