3. Pull out the stay rod.
4. Hold the hood opened with the
stay rod (1).
Stay Rod
䳜 To prevent injuries from being
burned by hot metal, grab the
stay rod in the area wrapped in
rubber.
䳜 Ensur
e that the stay rod is com

pletely inserted into the hole on
the hood whenever you inspect
the motor compartment. This will
prevent the hood from falling and
possibly injuring you.
Hood open warning
A warning message will appear on
the LCD display when hood is open.
The warning chime will operate
when the vehic
le is being driven
above 2 mph (3 km/h) with the hood
open.
Closing the hood
1. Before closing the hood, check the
following:
䳜 All filler caps in the motor com

partment must be correctly
installed.

bustible material must be
removed from the motor com

partment.
2. Lower the hood halfway and push

wn to securely lock in place.
䳜 Then double check to be sure
the hood is secur

䳜 If the
hood can be lifted with a
slight for
ce, open the hood
again and close it more firmly.
