Lane Following Assist (LFA)
Do not place reflective materials
such as white paper or mirror on
the dashboard. Sunlight reflec
-
tions can cause the LFA system to
not function properly.
Loud audio volumes can prevent
the oc
cupants from hearing the
alarm sounds from the LFA sys
-
tem.
Keeping your hands off the wheel
w
hile driving will trigger the
hands-off warning and deactivate
the steering-assist system. Put
your hands back on the wheel,
then the steering-assist system
will be reactivated.
Whe
n driving at a high speed, the
ste
ering assist force can become
weak and the vehicle can drive out
of its lane. Extra caution is
required, and comply with the
speed limit.
Attaching an objec
t to the
steer
-
ing wheel could deter steering
assistance.
Attaching an object to the

ing wheel could deter the hands-
off alarming system.
Activating the LFA
To activate/deactivate the LFA, with
the POWER button in the ON posi
-
tion, take the following steps:
Select or release the setting from
"User setting
Driver assist
Driving assist LFA (Lane Fol
-
lowing Assist)".
Select the LFA system in the user
setti
ng of the instrument panel and
meet the following conditions for
the system to operate.
Wh
en Smart Cruise Control is in
ope
ration (Vehicle deceleration
and acceleration control)
Refer to "Smart Cruise Control with
Stop & Go System (if equipped)" on
page 6-59.
Once the system starts working,
the indicator light ( ) comes on
the instrument panel.
The indicator light colors according
to the
syste
m status are as follows.
Gr
een: steering assist mode on
White: steering assist mode off
Steering assist
If the vehicle is inside the lane with
both lanes detected by the system,
and there is no steep steering made
by the driver, the LFA system
changes into steering assist mode.
The indicator light will come on
gr
e
en, and the system helps the
vehicle stay in line by controlling the
steering wheel.
When the steering wheel is not con
-
trolled temporarily, the indicator
light will flash green and changes to
white.
