Owner maintenance
While operating your vehicle:
䳜 Check for vibrations in the steer
-
ing wheel. Notice any increased
steering effort or looseness in the
steering wheel, or change in its
straight-ahead position.
䳜 Notice if your vehicle constantly
turns
slightly or "pulls" to one side
when traveling on smooth, level
road.
䳜 When stopping, listen and check
f
or unusual sounds, pulling to one
side, increased brake pedal travel
or "hard-to-push" brake pedal.
䳜 If any slipping or changes in the
operation of your
transmission
occurs, check the transmission
fluid level.
䳜 Check the reduction gear P (Park)
fu
nction.
䳜 Check the parking brake.
䳜 Check for fluid leaks under your
v
ehicle (water dripping from the
air conditioning system during or
after use is normal).
At least monthly:
䳜 Check the coolant level in the
coolant reservoir.
䳜 Check the operation of all exterior
li
ghts, including the stoplights,
turn signals and hazard warning
flashers.
䳜 Che
ck the inflation pressures of all
tir
es including the spare for tires
that are worn, show uneven wear,
or are damaged.
䳜 Chec
k for loose wheel lug nuts.
At least twice a year (i.e., every
Spring and Fall):
䳜 Check the radiator, heater and air
conditioning hoses for leaks or
damage.
䳜 Che
ck the windshield washer
spr
ay and wiper operation. Clean
the wiper blades with clean cloth
dampened with washer fluid.
䳜 Che
ck the headlight alignment.
䳜 Check the lap/shoulder belts for
we
ar and function.
At least once a year:
䳜 Clean the body and door drain
holes.
䳜 Lubricate the door hinges and
check the hood hinges.
䳜 Lubricate the door and hood locks
an
d latches.
䳜 Lubricate the door rubber weath
-
erstrips.
䳜 Check the air conditioning system.
䳜 Inspect and lubricate automatic
transmission linkage
and controls.
䳜 Clean the battery and terminals.
䳜 Check the brake fluid level.
