right after the engine is turned on.
CAUTION
Turn off Safe Exit Warning to install or
remove a trailer, carrier, or another
attachment. Turn on Safe Exit Warning
when finished.
Limitations of Safe Exit Warning
Safety Exit Warning may not operate
properly, or the function may operate
unexpectedly under the following cir
-
cumstances:
僅 Getting out of the vehicle where trees
or grass are overgrown
僅 Getting out of the vehicle where the
road is wet.
僅 The approaching vehicle is very fast
or very slow.
CAUTION
For more details on the limitations of the
rear corner radar, refer to "Blind-Spot
Collision-Avoidance Assist (BCA)" on
page 5-79.
WARNING
僅 Safety Exit Warning may not operate
properly if interfered with by strong
electromagnetic waves.
僅 Safety Exit Warning may not operate
for 3 seconds after the vehicle is
started, or the rear corner radars are
initialized.
Liftgate
Opening the liftgate
Make sure the shift lever is in P (Park, for
Dual Clutch Transmission/ Intelligent
Variable Transmission) or first gear or R
(Reverse, for Manual Transmission) and
set the parking brake.
Then do one of the following:
僅 Unlock all doors with the door unlock
button on your folding key or smart
key. Press the liftgate handle button
and open the liftgate.
僅 Press and hold the Liftgate Unlock
button on the folding key or smart
key. Press the liftgate handle button
and open the liftgate.
僅 With the Smart Key in your posses
-
sion, press the liftgate handle button
and open the liftgate.
NOTICE
In cold and wet climates, door lock and
door mechanisms may not work prop -
erly due to freezing conditions.
WARNING
The liftgate swings upward. Make sure
no objects or people are near the rear of
the vehicle when opening the liftgate.
