Climate control system
fied (and labeled) as meeting SAE
Standard J2842.
Excessive air conditioning use
僅 When using the A/C system, monitor
the temperature gauge closely while
driving up hills or in heavy traffic
when outside temperatures are high.
Air conditioning system operation
may cause engine overheating. Con
-
tinue to use the blower fan but turn
the air conditioning system off if the
temperature gauge indicates engine
overheating.
僅 When opening the windows in humid
weather, air conditioning may create
water droplets inside the vehicle.
Since excessive water droplets may
cause damage to electrical equip
-
ment, air conditioning should only be
used with the windows closed.
The air conditioning system should only
be used with the windows and sunroof
closed to prevent condensation inside
the vehicle that may cause damage to
electrical components.
A/C system operation tips
僅 If the vehicle has been parked in
direct sunlight during hot weather,
open the windows for a short time to
let the hot air inside the vehicle
escape.
僅 To help reduce moisture inside the
windows on rainy or humid days,
decrease the humidity inside the vehi
-
cle by operating the A/C system.
僅 During A/C system operation, you
may occasionally notice a slight
change in vehicle speed as the air
conditioning compressor cycles. This
is a normal characteristic of system
operation.
僅 To ensure maximum system perfor
-
mance, the A/C system should be run
for a few minutes each month.
僅When using the A/C system, you may
notice clear water dripping (or even
puddling) on the ground under the
passenger side of the vehicle. This is a
normal characteristic of system oper
-
ation.
僅 Operating the A/C system in the recir
-
culated air position provides maxi
-
mum cooling. Continued operation in
this mode may cause the air inside the
vehicle to become stale.
僅 During cooling operation, you may
occasionally notice a misty air flow
because of rapid cooling and humid
air intake. This is normal.
Climate control air filter
The climate control air filter removes
dust and other pollutants that enter the
vehicle from the outside. If dust or other
pollutants accumulate in the filter over
time, the airflow from the air vents may
decrease. This leads to moisture accu
-
mulating on the inside of the windshield
even when the fresh air intake mode is
selected.
At this time, replace the the climate con
-
trol filter. If you find it challenging to do
so yourself, have the climate control fil
-
ter replaced by an authorized Kia dealer.
For details on how to replace the climate
control air filter, refer to "Climate control
air filter" on page 8-23.
