Maintenance Scheduled maintenance service
*1. Fuel additives
Kia recommends that you use Tier 1
unleaded gasoline which has an octane
rating of RON (Research Octane Num
-
ber) 95/AKI (Anti Knock Index) 91 or
higher.
For customers who do not use good
quality gasolines including fuel addi
-
tives regularly, and have problems start
-
ing or the engine does not run smoothly,
one bottle of additives should be added
to the fuel tank at every 13,000 km
(8,000 miles).
Additives are available from an autho
-
rized Kia dealer. Do not mix with other
additives.
*2. Engine oil and engine oil filter
As it is normal for engine oil to be con
-
sumed during driving, the engine oil
level should be checked on regular
basis.
The engine oil change interval for nor
-
mal operating conditions is based on the
use of the recommended engine specifi
-
cation.
Never add any additives to the engine
oil. Engine oil additives can change the
properties of engine oil and may cause
serious engine failure.
*3. Coolant (Engine)
When adding coolant, use only deion
-
ized water or soft water for your vehicle
and never mix hard water in the coolant
filled at the factory. An improper coolant
mixture can result in serious malfunction
or engine damage.
*4. Drive belts (Engine)
Inspect alternator, water pump and air
conditioner drive belt and if necessary,
repair or replace. Inspect drive belt ten
-
sioner, idler and alternator pulley and if
necessary correct or replace.
*Transmission fluid
If the vehicle has been submerged in
water or in a flooded area, the fluids
should be changed as a precaution.
Fuel filter (Gasoline engine)
The fuel filter is considered to be main
-
tenance free but periodic inspection is
recommended for this maintenance
schedule depends on fuel quality.
