In case of an emergency whilst
driving
If an emergency situation occurs
whilst driving, stay calm and take
the following steps.
If the engine stalls at a crossroad
or crossing
䳜 If the engine stalls at a crossroad
or crossing, set the shift lever in
the N (Neutral) position and then
push the vehicle to a safe place.
䳜 If your vehicle has a manual
transmission not equipped with a
ignition lock switch, the vehicle
can move forward by shifting to
the 2 (Second) or 3 (Third) gear
and then turning the starter
without depressing the clutch
pedal.
If you have a flat tyre whilst driving
If a tyre goes flat whilst you are
driving:
1. Take your foot off the accelerator
pedal and let the vehicle slow
down whilst driving straight
ahead. Do not apply the brakes
immediately or attempt to pull
off the road as this may cause a
loss of control.
2. When the vehicle has slowed
down to such a speed that it is
safe to do so, brake carefully and
pull off the road.
3. Park the vehicle at the side of
road, do not stop or park the
vehicle in middle of the road way.
In case of divided roads, park the
vehicle as much away from the
driving lanes to avoid inconve
-
nience to other vehicles and, easy
operation of tyre change as men
-
tioned in "If you have a flat tyre
(with spare tyre)" on page 7-16.
4. When the vehicle is stopped, turn
on your emergency hazard flash
-
ers, set the parking brake and put
the transmission in reverse (man
-
ual transmission).
5. Have all passengers get out of the
vehicle. Be sure they all get out on
the side of the vehicle that is
away from traffic.
6. When changing a flat tyre, follow
the instruction provided later in "If
you have a flat tyre (with spare
tyre)" on page 7-16.
If the engine stalls whilst driving
1. Reduce your speed gradually,
keeping a straight line. Move cau
-
tiously off the road to a safe
place.
2. Turn on your emergency flashers.
3. Try to start the engine again. If
your vehicle does not start, con
