Normal maintenance schedule
The following maintenance services must be performed to ensure good emission
control and performance. Keep receipts for all vehicle emission services to protect
your warranty. Where both mileage and time are shown, the frequency of service is
determined by whichever occurs first.

僅 As it is normal for engine oil to be consumed during driving, the engine oil level should be
checked on regular basis.
僅 The engine oil change interval for normal operating conditions is based on the use of the
recommended engine specification. If the recommended engine oil specification is not
used, then replace the engine oil according to the maintenance schedule under severe
operating conditions.
僅 Never add any additives to the engine oil. Engine oil additives can change the properties of
engine oil and may cause serious engine failure.

Engine oil and engine oil fil
ter (Diesel)
僅 The engine oil level should be checked regularly and maintained properly. Operating with
an insufficient amount oil can damage the engine, and such damage is not covered by war
ranty.
僅 This maintenance schedule depends on fuel quality. It is applicable only when using a qual
ified fuel <"EN590 or equivalent">. If the diesel fuel specifications don't meet the EN590, it
must be replaced according to the severe maintenance schedule.
*3 Coolant (Engine)
When adding coolant, use only deionized water or soft water for your vehicle and never mix
hard water in the coolant filled at the factory. An improper coolant mixture can result in serious
malfunction or engine damage.
*4 Drive belts (Engine)
僅 Adjust alternator, water pump and air conditioner (if equipped) drive belt. Inspect and if nec
essary repair or replace.
僅 Inspect drive belt tensioner, idler and alternator pulley and if necessary correct or replace.
*5 Valve clearance
Inspect for excessive valve noise and/or engine vibration and adjust if necessary. In this case,
have the system checked by a professional workshop. Kia recommends to visit an authorised
Kia dealer/service partner.
*6 Spark plug
For your convenience, it can be replaced prior to it's interval when you do maintenance of other
items.
*7 Fuel filter cartridge (Diesel)
This maintenance schedule depends on fuel quality. It is applicable only when using a qualified
fuel <"EN590 or equivalent">. If the diesel fuel specification don't meet the EN590, it must be
replaced more frequently. KIA recommend "every 7,500 km (5,000 miles) inspection, every
15,000 km (10,000 miles) replacement". If there are some important safety matters like fuel
flow restriction, surging, loss of power, hard starting problem, etc., replace the fuel filter immedi
ately regardless of maintenance schedule and consult an authorised KIA dealer for details.

Transmission fluid Transmission fluid should be changed anytime it has been submerged in water.
Diesel particulate
filter (DPF)
If the DPF is found to be clogged, DPF cleaning will be required.
