6forwardspeedsandonereverse
speed.Theindividualspeedsare
selectedautomatically,dependingon
thepositionoftheshiftlever.
NOTICE
Thefirstfewshiftsonanew
vehicle,ifthebatteryhasbeen
disconnected,maybesomewhat
abrupt.
Thisisanormalcondition,andthe
shiftingsequencewilladjustafter
shiftsarecycledafewtimesbythe
TCM(TransmissionControlModule)
orPCM(PowertrainControlModule).
Forsmoothoperation,depressthe
brakepedalwhenshiftingfromN
(Neutral)toaforwardorreverse
gear.

Automatic transmission
• Alwayscheckthesurrounding
areasnearyourvehicleforpeople,
especiallychildren,beforeshifting
acarintoD(Drive)orR(Reverse).
• Beforeleavingthedriver’sseat,
alwaysmakesuretheshiftlever
isintheP(Park)position;then
settheparkingbrakefullyand
shuttheengineoff.Unexpected
andsuddenvehiclemovementcan
occuriftheseprecautionsarenot
followedintheorderidentified.
• Donotusetheenginebrake
(shiftingfromahighgeartolower
gear)rapidlyonslipperyroads.
Thevehiclemayslipcausingan
accident.
