Reducethespeedandshifttoa
lowergearbeforeyoustartdown
alongorsteepdowngrade.Ifyou

efficiently.
Onalonguphillgrade,shiftdown
andreduceyourspeedtoaround
70km/h(45mph)toreduce
thepossibilityofengineand
transmissionoverheating.

• Whentowingatraileronsteep
grades(inexcessof6%)payclose
attentiontotheenginecoolant
temperaturegaugetoensurethe
enginedoesnotoverheat.Ifthe
needleofthecoolanttemperature
gaugemovesacrossthedial
towards“H(HOT)(or130°C/
260°F)”,pulloverandstopassoon
asitissafetodoso,andallowthe
enginetoidleuntilitcoolsdown.
