aresubjecttohighpressureeven
aftertheenginestops.Thefueljet
producedbyfuelleaksmaycause
seriousinjury,ifittouchesthebody.
Peoplewearingacardiacpacemaker
shouldmaintainadistanceofat
least30cmfromtheECUorwiring
harnesswithintheengineroom
whiletheengineisrunning,since
thehighcurrentsintheCommon
Railsystemproduceconsiderable
magneticfields.
Vapor hose (for gasoline engine)

Thevaporhoseandfuelfiller
capshouldbeinspectedat
thoseintervalsspecifiedinthe
maintenanceschedule.Makesure
thatanewvaporhoseorfuelfiller
capiscorrectlyreplaced.
Vacuum crankcase ventilation
hoses (if equipped)
Inspectthesurfaceofhosesfor
evidenceofheatand/ormechanical
damage.Hardandbrittlerubber,
cracking,tears,cuts,abrasions,
andexcessiveswellingindicate
deterioration.Particularattention
shouldbepaidtoexaminethose
hosesurfacesnearesttohigh
heatsources,suchastheexhaust
manifold.
Inspectthehoseroutingtoassure
thatthehosesdonotcomein
contactwithanyheatsource,
sharpedgesormovingcomponent
whichmightcauseheatdamage
ormechanicalwear.Inspectall
hoseconnections,suchasclamps
andcouplings,tomakesurethey
aresecure,andthatnoleaksare
present.Hosesshouldbereplaced
immediatelyifthereisanyevidence
ofdeteriorationordamage.
