The KneeRover® Fusion All Terrain is a state-of-the-art 4-wheel steering mobility device designed to assist individuals recovering from foot, ankle, or lower leg injuries or surgery. It aims to provide users with increased freedom and mobility, allowing them to resume daily routines and enjoy life without the pain associated with crutches. This knee walker is intended as a walking aid, not a recreational device, and its safe operation is paramount.
The KneeRover® Fusion All Terrain serves as a mobility aid, supporting the injured leg at a 90-degree angle on a padded knee platform while the user propels themselves forward with their good foot. The 4-wheel steering technology enhances maneuverability, offering a stable and controlled movement experience. The device is equipped with a hand brake, which includes a parking feature, to ensure secure stops and stability when mounting or dismounting. The adjustable handlebar and knee platform allow for a customized fit, ensuring comfort and proper posture during use. The design emphasizes ease of movement, enabling users to glide smoothly as they recover.
To operate the KneeRover® Fusion All Terrain, the user places the knee of their injured leg on the knee platform and stands as straight as possible. The handlebar height should be adjusted to approximately waist high or the top of the hips for comfortable hand positioning on the grips. The knee platform height is set to support the injured leg at a 90-degree angle while standing. Before mounting, it is crucial to ensure the hand brake is fully engaged. To move, the user simply pushes forward with their good foot, allowing the scooter to glide. When it slows, they push again. The manufacturer recommends operating the scooter at a safe walking speed, ideally less than 3 mph.
The knee platform is designed with an offset feature to accommodate either the right or left leg, ensuring that the rear wheels remain clear of the pushing leg during use. This is achieved by positioning the kneepad post according to the "LEFT" or "RIGHT" stickers on the post plate and kneepad frame. Once correctly set up, the kneepad screws are inserted and tightened.
The steering column is installed by pushing a clamp lever to the left, raising the column, then placing the clamp lever into a "U" slot and tightening it clockwise. Finally, pushing the clamp lever down firmly secures the steering column. For transport, these steps are reversed to lower the column. The handle bar assembly involves inserting the handle bar into the steering column, ensuring the brake line is not twisted and the brake handle faces forward. The handle bar is raised to a comfortable height, and the height adjustment knob is inserted and tightened.
The Fusion cover is installed by placing the right side cover over the rear axle, feeding the brake cable into the rear of the cover, and positioning the front of the brake cable between the steering column and steering bracket. The left side cover is then placed over the rear axle, feeding the brake cable into its rear slot. The mounting brackets on the underside of the scooter must be inside the cover, and the cover is snapped together at all tab points. Finally, allen bolts with washers are installed into the mounting brackets to secure the cover, tightened but not overtightened.
The brake system includes a parking brake feature. To engage the brake, the user squeezes the brake lever. To apply the parking brake, the brake handle is squeezed firmly, and while held, a silver button is pressed to engage the lock. Releasing the brake handle while holding the button sets the parking brake. To release the lock, the brake handle is squeezed again, and the silver button will pop up.
Ongoing maintenance is essential for the safe and effective operation of the KneeRover® Fusion All Terrain. Users are advised to save the tools provided with the product, as they may be needed for routine maintenance. Over time, nuts and bolts on the knee walker can become loose with routine use. Therefore, it is important to periodically inspect for loose nuts and bolts and re-tighten them as appropriate.
Tire inflation is a critical aspect of maintenance. The FRONT wheels should be inflated to between 38 and 40 PSI, with a maximum PSI of 40. The REAR wheels should be inflated to between 33-35 PSI, with a maximum PSI of 35. Proper tire pressure ensures optimal performance and safety.
The brake system may require adjustment to be tighter or looser as needed. Users can refer to online maintenance videos provided by the manufacturer for guidance on brake adjustment.
Regular inspection of the knee walker is necessary to ensure that the brakes and wheels are functioning properly. The steering column clamp and height adjustment knob must be tightened and fully engaged before each use. Similarly, the knee platform height adjustment clamp should be tightened and fully engaged, and the locking pin must be securely in place prior to use.
The manufacturer emphasizes the importance of using only accessories and replacement parts authorized by the KneeRover® brand. Accessories from other manufacturers have not been tested and are not recommended for use with KneeRover® products.
The device comes with a warranty that covers the frame, cross braces, and welds for a lifetime. Brake components and hardware are covered for 1 year, while wheels, kneepad, seat, and grips are covered for 6 months. To validate the warranty, the scooter must be registered within 30 days of purchase with valid proof of purchase. The warranty does not cover defects or malfunctions caused by misuse, abuse, negligence, improper maintenance, failure to follow user manual instructions, or damage from unauthorized parts, alterations, or modifications. Cosmetic or incidental damages are also not covered. For warranty service or to purchase replacement parts not covered by warranty, users can visit the manufacturer's website or contact their customer care team.
