17.1 Cooling system
V01254-10
Water pump
1
in the engine ensures forced circulation of the
coolant.
The pressure resulting from the warming of the cooling system is
regulated by a valve in radiator cap
2
. Heat expansion causes
excess coolant to flow into compensating tank
3
. When the tem-
perature falls, this surplus coolant is sucked back into the cooling
system. This ensures that operating the vehicle at the specified
coolant temperature will not result in a risk of malfunctions.
115 °C (239 °F)
H02695-10
The coolant is cooled by the air stream and a radiator fan
4
,
which is activated at high temperature.
The lower the speed, the less the cooling effect. Dirty cooling fins
also reduce the cooling effect.
