Causes
1. Insufficient toner.
2. Deterioration of toner.
3. Defective transfer bias output.
4. Dirty main charger wire.
5. EcoPrint mode activated.
Causes Check procedures/corrective measures
1. Insufficient toner. If a message indicating need to add toner is displayed on the
operation panel, replace the toner container.
2. Deterioration of toner. Perform drum surface refreshing. (See page 1-4-6.)
3. Defective transfer bias output. Clean or replace the transfer roller. (See page 1-6-17.)
4. Dirty main charger wire. Clean the main charger wire. If the wire is heavily dirty, replace the
main charger unit. (See page 1-6-16.)
5. EcoPrint mode activated. Disable the EcoPrint mode. (Refer to the operation guide.)
(5) A white line
appears
longitudinally.

1. Foreign object in the developer of the process
unit (developing sleeve).
2. Defective laser output.

1. Foreign object in the developer of the
process unit (developing sleeve).
2. Defective laser output.
A. Defective laser scanner unit.
B. Defective engine/high voltage PWB.
Check to see if the magnetic toner brush is formed uniformly on the
developing sleeve and remove any foreign object. If the foreign
object cannot be removed, replace the process unit.
Replace the laser scanner unit. (See page 1-6-15.)
Replace the engine/high voltage PWB. (See page 1-6-26.)
(4) Background is gray. Causes
1. Deterioration of toner.
2. Dirty main charger wire.

2. Dirty main charger wire. Clean the main charger wire. If the wire is heavily dirty, replace the
