WARNING! Each Laser Peg® draws current from the batteries. Therefore, the more
pegs you use, the quicker you will deplete your battery power! As the power
weakens, the current will slowly fail and some Laser Pegs® will illuminate (typically
the reds and yellows) and some won’t. When the Laser Pegs® dim the Laser Pegs®
are not broken, they just need stronger batteries.
You have 2 simple options...
1. Change the batteries.
2. Use high quality batteries. They will last a little longer, but they will still deplete
rapidly the more laser pegs you connect!
*To avoid short-circuits, keep metal objects and
other un-authorized materials from obstructing
the peg holes.

Overview

The LASER PEGS® RUNNERS™ is a lighted construction set designed for children aged 5 and up, allowing them to build various models with illuminated parts. This set includes 4 Laser Pegs®, 24 construction parts, a Runner Power Base, and an instruction manual. It requires 3 AAA batteries, which are not included.

Function Description:

The core function of the LASER PEGS® RUNNERS™ is to enable the construction of models that can light up and, in the case of the Runner Power Base, move. The Laser Pegs® are the illuminated components, while the construction parts allow for diverse building possibilities. The Runner Power Base is battery-operated and provides both power for the lights and motion for the constructed models. The set is compatible with other construction kits, expanding building options.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Power Source: Requires 3 AAA batteries (not included).
  • Voltage: 4.5V (3 x AAA or LR03).
  • Age Recommendation: For ages 5 and up.
  • Safety Compliance: EN71, RoHS COMPLIANT, ASTM F963.
  • Laser Pegs®: The set includes 4 Laser Pegs® that illuminate. There are no LEDs in the 90-degree pegs or the stackable pegs.
  • Maximum Pegs: Do not connect more than 20 Laser Pegs® at one time to avoid damage or rapid battery depletion.
  • Construction Compatibility: Designed to be compatible with other construction kits.

Usage Features:

  • Connecting Pegs: To construct models, slide two pieces together. The 90-degree pegs are crucial for construction but do not illuminate.
  • Runner Power Base: This base allows users to build with Laser Pegs® and other construction parts. It is battery-operated and enables the constructed model to move.
    • Peg Holes: Designed for constructing with Laser Pegs®.
    • Construction Part Connection: Allows connection to other construction kits.
    • Hitch: Used for connecting multiple Runner Power Bases or other components.
    • Battery Compartment: Houses the 3 AAA batteries.
  • Power Button: A switch on the Runner Power Base cycles through different power settings:
    • LIGHT: Illuminates the model.
    • OFF: Turns power off.
    • ON: Activates motion and light.
    • FLASH: Activates light flash with motion.
  • Speed Settings: The Runner Power Base has three speed settings:
    • MEDIUM (III|Push Switch): Engages the motor at a medium speed.
    • NEUTRAL (Push Switch (CENTER)): The Runners™ will not operate on its own in this setting. The motor will engage once switched to medium or fast.
    • FAST (Push Switch IIII): Engages the motor at a fast speed.
  • Battery Installation:
    1. Remove screws from the battery compartment.
    2. Insert three AAA batteries in the correct polarity as displayed inside the Runner Power Base.
    3. Replace the screws.
  • Color Code: Each Laser Peg® is color-coded on the circuit board inside its shape.
  • Model Instructions: Additional model instructions can be downloaded from www.LaserPegs.com.
  • Changing Tread: The manual mentions additional tires or tracks sold separately, indicating expandability for different vehicle types.
  • Hitching Runners: Multiple Runner Power Bases can be hitched together to create larger, more complex moving models.

Maintenance Features:

  • Battery Care:
    • Do not mix old and new batteries.
    • Do not mix alkaline, standard (carbon-zinc), or rechargeable (nickel-cadmium) batteries.
    • Exhausted batteries must be removed from the power base.
    • Non-rechargeable batteries are not to be recharged.

    • Batteries must be inserted with the correct polarity.
    • The supply terminals are not to be short-circuited.
  • Troubleshooting Dimming Lights: If Laser Pegs® dim, it indicates weakening battery power. Users have two options:
    1. Change the batteries.
    2. Use high-quality batteries, which may last longer but will still deplete with more Laser Pegs® connected.
  • General Warnings:
    • Choking Hazard: Contains small parts, not suitable for children under 3 years.
    • Do not submerge the device in water.
    • Avoid obstructing peg holes with metal objects or unauthorized materials to prevent short-circuits and damage.
