About this Manual
Read this manual carefully and keep it in a safe place.
This manual is intended for professionals in the automotive electrical field.
1. General Safety
Intended use:
Use the BW 801e battery watch to protect your battery against total
discharge. The device prevents the battery voltage from falling below a set
level. Use the device for batteries with a nominal voltage of 12 V or 24 V.
Observe the following safety instructions:
Fire hazard
Incorrect installation or inadequate wiring can result in a
build-up of heat.
Only install the device as described in this manual.
Select a sufficient cable cross-section to connect the
device.
Incorrect use can result in defects
Material damage can occur if the device is used beyond the
specified operating ranges.
Before assembling and installing the device, make
sure that it is suitable for your use.
Incorrect assembly can result in defects
The ingress of water or overheating can result in material
damage.
Assemble the device in a dry and cool place.
2. Technical Specifications

12 V: 9 V … 12 V
24 V: 18 V … 24 V
3. About the Battery Watch
The BW 801e battery watch is a two-stage safety system to avoid deep
discharge of your battery. Alarm functions warn you acoustically and visually
of imminent deep discharge. If power continues to be removed from the
battery, the battery watch disconnects consumers from the battery to
prevent deep discharge. The threshold values for the alarm and for switching
off the consumers are set via DIP switches.

4. Assembly and Installation
Observe the following notes when assembling and installing the device:
Risk of injury from electric shock
Electric shock from short-circuit currents.
Disconnect the battery negative lead prior to
assembly.
Damage due to residual voltage
Damage to the vehicle electrics due to residual voltage in
the vehicle power circuit.
Do not place the positive lead on the vehicle
bodywork.
