Upon freeing Princess Leia
Organa from the original Death
Star’s detention level, Han Solo,
Chewbacca and Luke Skywalker were
temporarily stranded inside this trash
compactor along with the princess. They
were attacked by a carnivorous dianoga,
and nearly died when the compactor’s walls
started to close in to compress the waste it
contained. C-3PO and R2-D2, who had remained
behind in safety however, managed to disable all
trash compactors on the detention level of the Death
Star and save their lives.
