1.ThisdevicecomplieswithPart68oftheFCCrules.Alabelisafxedtothe
devicethatcontains,amongotherthings,theFCCregistrationnumber,
USOC,andRingerEquivalencyNumber(REN)forthisequipment.Ifthese
numbersarerequested,providethisinformationtoyourtelephonecompany.
Note:Ifthedeviceisaninternalmodem,asecondFCCregistrationlabel
isalsoprovided.Youmayattachthelabeltotheexteriorofthecomputer
inwhichyouinstalltheLenovomodem,oryoumayattachthelabeltothe
externalDAA,ifyouhaveone.Placethelabelinalocationthatiseasily
accessible,shouldyouneedtoprovidethelabelinformationtothetelephone
company.
2.TheRENisusefultodeterminethequantityofdevicesyoumayconnectto
yourtelephonelineandstillhavethosedevicesringwhenyournumberis
called.Inmost,butnotallareas,thesumoftheRENsofalldevicesshould
notexceedve(5).Tobecertainofthenumberofdevicesyoumayconnect
toyourline,asdeterminedbytheREN,youshouldcallyourlocaltelephone
companytodeterminethemaximumRENforyourcallingarea.
3.Ifthedevicecausesharmtothetelephonenetwork,thetelephonecompany
maydiscontinueyourservicetemporarily.Ifpossible,theywillnotifyyouin
advance;ifadvancenoticeisnotpractical,youwillbenotiedassoonas
possible.YouwillbeadvisedofyourrighttoleacomplaintwiththeFCC.
4.Yourtelephonecompanymaymakechangesinitsfacilities,equipment,
operations,orproceduresthatcouldaffecttheproperoperationofyour
equipment.Iftheydo,youwillbegivenadvancenoticetogiveyouan
opportunitytomaintainuninterruptedservice.
5.Ifyouexperiencetroublewiththisproduct,contactyourauthorizedreselleror
calltheCustomerSupportCenter.IntheUnitedStates,call1-800-426-7378.
InCanada,call1-800-565-3344.Youmayberequiredtopresentproofof
purchase.Thetelephonecompanymayaskyoutodisconnectthedevice
fromthenetworkuntiltheproblemhasbeencorrected,oruntilyouaresure
thedeviceisnotmalfunctioning.
6.Nocustomerrepairsarepossibletothedevice.Ifyouexperiencetroublewith
thedevice,contactyourAuthorizedResellerorseetheDiagnosticssectionof
thismanualforinformation.
7.Thisdevicemaynotbeusedoncoinserviceprovidedbythetelephone
company.Connectiontopartylinesissubjecttostatetariffs.Contactyour
statepublicutilitycommissionorcorporationcommissionforinformation.
8.Whenorderingnetworkinterface(NI)servicefromthelocalExchangeCarrier,
