Keyboardproblems
•Problem:Allorsomekeysonthekeyboarddonotwork.
Solution:Ifanexternalnumerickeypadisconnected:
1.Turnoffthecomputer.
2.Removetheexternalnumerickeypad.
3.Turnonthecomputerandtryusingthekeyboardagain.
Ifthekeyboardproblemisresolved,carefullyreconnecttheexternalnumerickeypad,externalkeyboard,
makingsurethatyouhaveseatedtheconnectorsproperly.
Iftheproblemremains,makesurethatthecorrectdevicedriverisinstalledbydoingthefollowing:
1.ClickStart➙ControlPanel.ChangetheviewoftheControlPanelfromCategorytoLargeicons
orSmallicons.
2.ClickKeyboard.
3.SelecttheHardwaretab.IntheDeviceProperties,makesurethatyouseethismessage:“Device
Status:Thisdeviceisworkingproperly.”
Ifkeysonthekeyboardstilldonotwork,havethecomputerserviced.
•Problem:Allorsomekeysontheexternalnumerickeypaddonotwork.
Solution:Makesurethattheexternalnumerickeypadiscorrectlyconnectedtothecomputer.
Problemswiththedisplayandmultimediadevices
Thissectionincludesthemostcommondisplayandmultimediadevicesproblemswhicharecomputer
screen,externalmonitor,audio,andopticaldrive.Checkthesetopicstolearnmoreinformation.
Computerscreenproblems
•Problem:Thescreenisblank.
Solution:Dothefollowing:
–PressFn+F7tobringuptheimage.
Note:IfyouusetheFn+F7keycombinationtoapplyapresentationscheme,pressFn+F7atleast
threetimesinthreeseconds,andtheimageisdisplayedonthecomputerscreen.
–Ifyouareusingtheacpoweradapter,orusingthebatteryandthebatterystatusindicatorison(is
green),pressFn+F9tomakethescreenbrighter.
–Ifthesleepstatusindicatorison(isgreen),pressFntoresumefromthesleepmode.
–Iftheproblempersists,followthesolutionforthefollowingproblem.
•Problem:Thescreenisunreadableordistorted.
Solution:Makesurethat:
–Thedisplaydevicedriverisinstalledcorrectly.
–Thescreenresolutionandcolorqualityarecorrectlyset.
–Themonitortypeiscorrect.
Tocheckthesesettings,dothefollowing:
1.Right-clickonthedesktop,andclickPersonalize.
2.ClickDisplayattheleft.
3.SelectChangedisplaysettings.Checkwhetherthescreenresolutioniscorrectlyset.
