Step 2. Connect the cables between the power distribution board and system board (see “Power
distribution board cable routing” on page 179
).
After this task is completed
1. Reinstall the power bus bar (see
“Install a power bus bar” on page 125).
2. If necessary, reinstall the PCIe riser assembly to the node and reconnect the required PCIe cables to the
system board (see
“Install a PCIe riser assembly” on page 121 and Chapter 6 “Internal cable routing” on
page 173
).
3. If necessary, reinstall the GPU air duct (see
“Install a GPU air duct” on page 93).
4. Make sure that all the required cables are routed and connected correctly; then, reinstall the top cover
(see
“Install the top cover” on page 170).
5. Reinstall the node into the chassis (see
“Install a node to the chassis” on page 75).
6. Make sure that the required power supply units are installed and power cords are connected; then,
power on the node (see
“Install a hot-swap power supply” on page 61 and “Power on the node” on page
51
.)
7. Proceed to complete the parts replacement (see
“Complete the parts replacement” on page 171).
Processor and heat sink replacement (trained technician only)
Follow instructions in this section to remove or install a processor and heat sink module (PHM).
Important: This task must be operated by trained technicians.
Attention: Before reusing a processor or heat sink, make sure to use Lenovo proven alcohol cleaning pad
and thermal grease.
Remove the processor and heat sink
This task has instructions for removing the assembled processor and heat sink, known as a processor-heat-
sink module (PHM). This task requires a Torx T30 driver. This procedure must be executed by a trained
technician.
Important: This task must be operated by trained technicians.
