Before you remove the PCIe adapter, complete the following steps:
1. Read the following sections to ensure that you work safely.

“Safety” on page iii
• “Installation Guidelines” on page 37
2. Turn off the server. Disconnect the power cords and all external cables (see “Power off the server” on
page 16
).
3. Remove the node from the enclosure if needed (see
“Remove a node” on page 98).
4. Remove the PCIe riser assembly (see
“Remove the PCIe riser assembly” on page 103 for instructions).

Remove the screws of the adapter retainer and remove the retainer.
Step 1. Remove the screw of the adapter.
Step 2. Grasp the PCIe adapter by its edges and carefully pull it out of the slot.
