Step 1. Lift the air baffle up and set it aside.
Attention: For proper cooling and airflow, reinstall the air baffle before you insert the compute
node into the chassis. Operating the compute node with the air baffle removed might damage
compute node components.
After removing the air baffle, begin installing any options that you have purchased.
Install a 2.5-inch drive backplane
Use this information to install a drive backplane option.
Before you install a drive backplane, complete the following steps:
1. Read
“Installation Guidelines” on page 28 to ensure that you work safely.
2. Carefully lay the compute node on a flat, static-protective surface, orienting the compute node with the
bezel pointing toward you.
3. Remove the compute node cover (see
“Remove the compute node cover” on page 32 for instructions).
Notes: Several different types of drive backplanes can be installed in the compute node. All are removed
and installed in a similar manner.
